What travellers are saying
- trooper92St. Gallen553 contributionsWe were lucky to have stopped here for a fe hours when traveling along the Adriatic coast. The village is nicely preserved, with wonderful views and a great historic atmosphere. Plan at least an hour to explore the alleys and viewpoints (including the castle‘s ruins).Written 19 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - trooper92St. Gallen553 contributionsThe Teatro is the main building surrounding the central „orange tree“ square, with great views down to the coast and a wonderful old time atmosphere. Parking is available „under the city walls“ nearby, the city is traffic free.Written 19 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vivaldi RGrottammare, Italy16 contributionsthis bronze is at the beginning of a pedestrian walk that from Grottammare brings no about 3 km nortn to Cupra Marittima ( and 15 km south to Porto d'Ascoli) along the Adriatic sea.
It is a very pleasant place where to run and smell the sea and the autoctonous plants along the way.
When we were living in Grottammare at the beginning of the millenium my son, then 5 or 6 was invited by the mayor to unveil the statue of the young runner...I like to think of that as a turning point in his life; now he is a top runner in the Athletic Running Team of Dartmouth and can reach Cupra in less than 8 minutes starting from this statue!
Walking toward Cupra you will cross the 43rd parallel, the exact position of the parallel is marked along the way with an indication of the many cities that the parallel crosses. you will be in disbelief learning that you are in the same parallel of the Niagara falls ( more precisely Buffalo) with olive trees and grapes all around... a great lecture in microclimat.... I also learned that the sea in front of Grottammare has special suiting and calming qualities being reach of bromures instead of the more pungent yodures... love this statue so reach of memory and i hope to have inspired you to run from there ( a word of caution - you may need to negotiate the road with running bicicles!)Written 21 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
