What travellers are saying
- Piero CBanja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina435 contributionsNice wide slopes with great snow, but few beginner runs. There’s a bunny area separate from the main ski area, but it’s very small. Not too crowded, with fast gondolas and friendly staff. Relatively inexpensive compared to the States.Written 11 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- freefiremanVienna, Austria2,335 contributionsThe Grossarltal Tourist Office offers a wide range of options, such as hiking on around 400 km of marked hiking trails to around 40 managed alpine pastures in the Grossarl Valley. Because of its alpine density it is also called the valley of the alpine pastures, but you can hike not only on alpine pastures, but also on peaks or to mountain lakes.
There is also the opportunity to purchase hiking needles, a hiking taxi or hike with the hiking professionals, you will find accommodations that specialize in hiking. Numerous tour tips and INFOS from the tourism association make it easier to plan the tour - everything is included, from the easy alpine hike to the demanding high mountain tour.
The "BERG-GESUND" is offered, an extensive tour and mountain program and these tours are free for guests from BERG-GESUND member companies. Various themed hikes are also offered in the Grossarl Valley.
The chapel hiking trail is a pleasant hike for body, mind and soul. On the Salzburg Almenweg you can go on a long hike with 31 stages through the Salzburg Pongau, but it takes some time. The hiking village of Großarl and the hiking and mountaineering village of Hüttschlag really offer a lot when it comes to hiking.
In winter a wide range of perfectly groomed slopes, modern lifts and the most rustic ski huts in the Alps with good culinaric offers - all on the Grossarltal-Dorfgastein ski area. Also cross-country skiing, ski tours, snowshoe hikes - discovering nature in the Grossarl Valley is offered.
Mountain highlights such as Skikeriki, free WiFi, peace and quiet, fun slopes and snow park ensure fun in the snow - you can still experience authenticity and quality at the Salzburg Mountain Advent in Grossarltal.

The staff are very friendly, competent and helpful.
The ski school offers individual courses as well as standard courses, especially for the little ones there is just behind the sports shop the popular practice meadow with a small lift and many exercise aids and the popular giant ski hare, which is always the center of the little ski hare. The staff of the ski school are very well educated and sometimes speak other languages.
The ski rental offers a large and good number of good skis in all possible lengths and for all levels, whereby the advice is characterized by good competence. It can be rented ski, ski poles, ski boots helmets etc. A new service - the ONLINE reservation of these products is very well designed, there are complete packages or you can also order the products individually, special requests are also considered - all reserved ski products were available and in very good condition - so can to satisfy customers, rental prices are also within acceptable range.
In the sports shop there is the latest fashion for Fashion and functionality is capitalized, here you can get fashion by edc by Esprit, Oakly, protest, chill out and much more.

Also beware you'll have to cross the main road where cars drive 50-100 km/h a few times.Written 1 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- winterssonNoosa, Australia1,716 contributionsLong hike to see all the chapels from Grossarl to Hutschlag. Infrequent bus service will get you back. Chapels are nice but after a couple, they become a bit boring.Written 5 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- AwesomeAdventuresSEStockholm, Sweden131 contributionsIf you plan to walk the Berliner hiking trail this is a good starting position or at least the hike from the Schlegeis dam doesn’t take all that long and is actually a perfect day tour for those wanting a really nice and easy climb.
Food and service is good and possibility to sleep is good in the summertime if you are on your round trip around the hiking trail.Written 2 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
