What travellers are saying
- Passport6560371 contributionEven it is very busy on weeend, 7 km return, easy trail and beautiful scenery of the falls and many viewpoints for you to stop.Written 30 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - springbanktravellerCallgary872 contributionsThe site has much improved since we visted many years ago. The interpretive centre is very good depicting the life of a fur trader and that of the Indigenous peoples who brought their furs to the Hudson Bay Company and North West Company Forts from 1799 onwards. Perhaps a little more could have been said about the famous surveyor and map maker David Thompson and all the travels w=h took as far south as Spokane and was is now Astoria and Vancouver in Washington State. The area is excellent for school children with many activities and learning experiences to be had, The blacksmith building was open and the smithy was busy making nails as well as other ornamental items. There is a pathway around the property with sign boards relating the story and activities of the forts. All in all, a good experience.Written 31 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Faith MEdmonton, Canada17 contributionsIce Bubbles: what an superb experience it was to visit Abraham Lake in winter to see the ice bubbles. We visited in January which is probable the perfect time a year. Methane gas from vegetation gets caught in ice of the freezing Rocky Mountain lake and create stunning patterns. Tip: drive along the lake until a ways after the first rock crop out, park along the road and walk a short distance to the lake. there are other places that show the bubbles, but this is the best stop. a few hundred yards further are official outhouses and before the lake, at the hamlet of Nordegg, are gas stations and convenience store. Wear cleats as the first part to the bubbles is ice on a slant on top of gravel, its hard to walk back up. Dress warm, its always windy, which is handy so the snow gets blown away and doesn't cover up the bubblesWritten 16 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - rlmptlLloydminster, Canada1,155 contributionswe travelled here beginning of September 9th 2022. The large looking campground was already closed for the season but we enjoyed the brief walk to the falls from the road near the campsite not from the parking lot there are two ways in. the walk down was doable for me and back up. - sslssgEdmonton, Canada51 contributionsNice Campground. Facilities were kept very clean although it's a bit of a bummer that they didn't open the showers this summer. The sites had decent trees for privacy. The staff were super friendly. Some of the loops had maps for the trails, but not all. Didn't really spend any time on the beach, but it did look nice. Would returnWritten 3 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SkwikiBurnaby, Canada1,671 contributionsWe didn't have much time because it was getting later in the day. Also being unprepared city folk we didn't have bear spray. No one else was in sight. My partner was a bit worried with the signs warning of bears in the area. So we basically took photos from a few viewpoints and headed back to the highway. Even a quick visit was worth it to see the beautiful falls.
Some day we will return, prepared and with more time to enjoy the scenery.Written 2 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Samantha R1 contributionThank you to our tour guide, Aspen, who demonstrated an excellent working knowledge of the mine site! She provided wonderful stories, accompanied with facts, about this historical site and the people who mined there. Aspen answered any questions we had and was pleasurable to spend time with while touring the site.
We found the actual site to be very interesting and we are thankful that we took the time to see it! It was worth it! Make sure to check out Brazeau Collieries Historic Mine Site!Written 29 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
