What travellers are saying
- JohnSaitama, Japan7 contributionsDefinitely worth the 20 minute light hike to enjoy a beautfiul view of the waterfall that falls in 3 layers down the mountain. Easy and children friendly hike along the river and over a couple small suspension bridges.Written 28 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TobyLer0nesussex51 contributionsReally good outlet with plenty of stores- big chains, small chains and local too. A nice day out in pleasant outdoor surroundings. Nike, Adidas, Boss, Hilfiger all there - plus plenty of golf outlets. Nike a real highlight with some excellent offers and friendly staff. No Ralph Lauren (good!) as I find their outlet prices grossly inflated anyway! Some really nice options for lunch when you get hungry, all dotted among the shops.
We got the free shuttle bus there from Nasushiobara which was easy - just look up the timetable as could save you a long wait.Written 2 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I got bullet train to Nasushiobara station and from there a free shuttle bus service operates (8.10am) to Hunter Mountain. You have to rebook this (via the hunter mountain resort ‘access’ page of the website. It was a little complicated to find and arrange but once booked, an email confirms your seat. Importantly, but not clear in the booking process is the shuttle booking there also includes the return leg which leaves the resort at 4.30pm back to the station. I also booked lift pass and equipment hire via the resort webpage which sped things up on arrival. It also meant I had what I needed which is helpful with my limited Japanese! There is an option to include lunch voucher with lift pass which saves a little money.
The resort itself is fairly small, with 12-13 runs. None particularly challenging but well kept and nice tree line in places. The queues not too long (max 15 minutes) and if you’re on your own use the solo queue to speed things up. Lunch outlets at the base plus a couple but mountain so suggest you take a look out during the morning and then return to your favoured choice at lunchtime.
Do not miss the shuttle back (starts 4pm) from the same place it dropped you off. You must have our reservation confirmation with you as they do check you off. All very straightforward.Written 2 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was cloudy the day we went but still pleasant. Even after heavy rains the night before the stairs leading down to the marsh were in good condition. Our two year old walked most of the way but needed to be put in the carrier for the uphill walk from the marsh to the parking lot.Written 26 September 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rory RTokyo, Japan673 contributionsA great little excursion from our hotel (Epinard Nasu). We had it to ourselves, and loved the beautiful sound of the water as well as the rich green surroundings.Written 4 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EugeneMelbourne, Australia704 contributionsCompleted in 2003, this 52.5 m long suspension bridge stretches across the Hoki River and leads to a public onsen. It is known as one of the top destinations in Nasushiobara for enjoying the autumn foliage consisting of fiery red maple leaves.
Even though we visited on a wet day, the rain could not dampen our spirits and stop us from marveling at the amazing autumn colors. There was even a trained monkey performance that was going on at the nearby information centre.Written 15 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Bus is also covered in JR Nagano Niigata pass. Nice place to visit in autumn.
About 10min walk down slope & half way down the slope I was so glad I came! a wide view of mountains & pretty autumn colours .. not crowded probably is Mon.
Nice walk on suspension bridge, walking above the lake with mountains surrounded feeling is great. Was windy so the bridge sway a little, that doesn't bother me at all.
There are café & souvenir shop, have lunch & coffee there was so relax & enjoyable.
A stall outside souvenir shop sell roasted big chestnut, nice!
If you miss the last bus to Nasushiobara, not to worry, just take the next bus to alight at Nishinasuno station & take JR train (just 1 station only) to Nasushiobara.Written 5 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Was a little foggy in the mountains which added a nice touch to our experience.Written 28 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
