We did a day trip to Saluzzo and Cuneo from Alba, with little fore knowledge. Oh my what a discovery is Cuneo, the Via Roma walk and the Piazza Galimberti! We were blown away, and quite upset that we did not have more time, and began to make plans to come back and book lodging directly on the Via Roma. There was an ongoing setup for some type of festival, street lights etc, and it hurt us badly to leave. We did try the Chocolate Rhum treats, and we saw the cathedral which is a top fiver. The key is the walkability, the shopping, people watching, abundance of cafes and ristorantes, and the option for shade strolling vs sun. It's a stunner.

I expected Cuneo to be nice....but it surpassed all expectations with lovely architecture, it's very walkable and has some good food places. I would stick with the old town....we walked into the new town but it's worth a miss.

This is a lovely church which was built 700 years ago and was sacked by Napoleon and transformed in housing for the military. Now it is part of a complex with includes exhibitions and a museum. The building is original, architecturally pleasant and well preserved.

I didn't realise that I could visit inside but passed several times, as this is a highlight of the via Roma, marking the far end from the main square. I will have to go inside next time I revisit Cuneo.

A warm, bilingual welcome saw us wandering through a museum which took us from prehistoric times to present day Cuneo. The exhibits showed artifacts from each period, with interesting insights into archeological and restoration techniques. The old church of San Sebastiano is magnificent.

Close to the downtown; a nice walk that goes far along the river. It was hot so we didn't go as far as we had planned. You can cut back up to the city at many places, making a variety of roundtrip loops.

Beautiful interior, lovely statues and paintings. The organ was playing during our visit - making it a very special visit indeed!

some weird and wonderful local and provincial artefacts, and a rather unusual modern art installation in the now de-consecrated church of San Francesco. Very helpful staff. Look out for the doll collection, dressed in the appropriate dress of each valley, and some interesting silk exhibits.

You can walk here from the center city through a 3,5 km long shaded avenue (closed to car on holiday). Wonderful views out to the mountains. You can walk down to the river and walk along.

We had a lovely 4 night stay in a self-catering house. This area is perfect for anybody who enjoys excellent wines and regional food. The day trips to surrounding villages and towns allowed us to discover the unique and tranquil vibe. People here are friendly, proud of their heritage and what they produce.
