The tour with Mr John and his good friend Mr Ahmed was very moving and absolutely worthwhile. We were very touched by how personally Mr John and Mr Ahmed told us about their lives and the impressions we gained during the tour. The walk through the ghost town really gave us goose bumps and it is incomprehensible what happened there. It is very interesting that both the Greek side and the Turkish side are represented. We are very grateful to have received first-hand information about the historical events from Mr John and Mr Ahmed and will never forget the impressions.

    Fantastic !!

Having known a little about the history of varosha for a short while this tour was a must see for me.

It did not disappoint. The tour guide , atos was friendly & accommodating from the very start (collected at our hotel)

Prior to arrival at the border crossing we were taken to an information centre and shown a short video on the history of famagusta for context.

This is a poignant curiosity for us tourists - but an unresolved Chapter in the lives of many Cypriots & I feel this was highlighted well.

Afterwards Everything was streamlined & explained about the border crossings into the occupied territories.

Once in the city we were given all the info on the various buildings & the businesses that once resided within them all at a pace commensurate with the group.

Laterally once we’d been through varosha , we entered the outskirts of famagusta town & were able to dine or purchase gifts.

Our guide , atos also advised us on where to go for purchases & what to avoid as potential tourist honey traps.

In summary I would highly recommend this tour - there is so much to see & learn about this sad part of Cypriot history that YouTube videos & urbex articles fail to convey.

This was worth every penny & I wish the guide every success in future.

    Scott.

Only the center of ancient Salamis is excavated and partially restored but the site is big enough to spend at least an hour there. Signage is almost nonexistent. Admission is €3 and euros are accepted.

If you are in N. Cyprus you really must visit Famagusta and its very beautiful walled city, wander the old buildings and ruins and soak up the history. There are good restaurants for the tired and hungry and some open markets for those in need of retail therapy. well worth the trip.

Beautiful Gothic cathedral turned into an Ottoman mosque and as an architectural structure combining the best of both worlds. Pleasant welcome.

This is an absolutely stunning part of Cyprus and well worth a visit. I would suggest you hire a little jeep: we had a Suzuki Ventura which is good for the roads and somehow adds fun to the trip. Drive gently, stop often, feed the donkeys (they are endearingly friendly), look in the churches, walk on the sand, swim in the sea and just take in the moment.

Well worth the cheap entry fee. lots of artefacts dating back to thousands of years BC, a small cafe inside to get a drink.

It was an exciting experience to walk around in there.
Our guide "Deniz" was really good, giving the tour a personal feel, even though it is over a terrible story.

A nice beach club with a good vibe. They have different seating styles. The service is good and the prices are reasonable. The sand and sea are good and clean.

Spectacular castle ruin and if you climb the towers they offer lovely views across the harbour and the old town. Well worth a wander round.

Beautiful beach with super turquoise water.
Very quite with just few people (not many tourists here)
Just I love it! You can relax swim and enjoy the sun!
There is a lovely bar over looking the sea with food and drinks and it is possible to have sunbeds and umbrella!
I really love this beautiful beach, happy to come here!

of the town of Famagusta. This was the only section of the wall that we were able to get onto. View of the mosque was especially good.
