While on a tour of Sri Lanka with a grop of friends we visited this place. It has nice dutch fort where even today the services are running. It is nicely maintained and one can see the glimpses of history here.

Very nice stop to see some turtles that all have their own story. The guide was very good and gave a good tour that took maybe 30 minutes. You will learn about the different sea turtles and how to separate them from each other. You will also be able to hold small baby turtles and see their hatchery. The kids really loved that.

Galle Forte is an interesting and beautiful place to visit. The walk along the ramparts which is just under 2km has beautiful views and really is a must do. Galle has a good selection of shops and good cafes. The streets are quite shady allowing a little respite from the sun.

The Galle Lighthouse is Sri Lanka’s oldest light station, dating back to the 19th century and situated within the walls of the Galle Fort. In 1934 the original lighthouse was burnt and was rebuilt in 1939.

The Dutch Reformed Church or Groote Kerk is one of the oldest Protestant churches to serve this island. It was built by the Dutch in 1755 on the highest point within the fort, with its base standing more than 12 metres above sea level.

We went searching for Hanuman temple. Actually there are two here. One in Japanese peace pagoda complex which closes at 9.30pm. there is a Murugan, Vishnu shrine also inside. And a Budha Vihara too. Just a mile away in the nearby devalaya complex there is another Hanuman temple which closes around at 5 pm is what we heard. When we went it was closed. It is right on the beach. And the road to this place was buzzing with lot of lights and people.

Very educational place for all the people. It is very helpful for kids who are doing Sri Lankan education. Most of the required historical items are there.

This is also a wonderful place to study the life of late Mr.Martin Wickramasinghe who is a popular author. Main place in the museum is the house where he was born.

Facilities and some renovations, improvements can be made to the place ,so it can attract more visitors. It's a place you should visit when you're in Galle.

The tower seems to stand out over the fort at various points.

The point it stands on gives good views as well.

Little gallery underneath that comes in at 2000LKR. Ticket gives entry to 2 other locations. At that price for a small gallery we passed.

    Lovely spot though

This mosque is painted in white near the southern part of the fort of Galle. From the looks you will not say that this is a Mosque probably more to a Christian church.

Incredible. The owner and her daughter made us feel very welcome, an Aladdin’s cave of treasures and very reasonably priced! Some of the pieces date back over 600 years.

I visited this temple as I am interested in history. This temple is dating from the time when Buddhism was first introduced to Sri Lanka in 250 BC during the reign of King Devanampiya Tissa.. the Bodhi tree at the temple is very old and would have been planted at sometime in the ancient past..there are huge boulders which are very beautiful and inside the cave is a statue of Lord Buddha in the reclining position. I do not know of this is original ancient statue or a modern replica.

Rather disturbing to read that a fees/donation was being requested from foreigners. This should not happen and is against all genuine Buddhist practice. I am a Sri
Lankan and I was also asked whether I wished to contribute towards its upkeep and I said no. This should be entirely a matter of personal choice
