Another beautiful stop on our cruise. It was very scenic and different that the others that we had seen. It was a bit crowded on the day that we went. I think overall there seems to be less to do in Bodrum than some of the surrounding port areas if you are on a cruise. I think that is why it may be crowded, It is worth the visit. The area surrounding it is nice and the castle has a view of the inner harbor with many beautiful Gullet boats.

This is part of Bodrum Castle, which we saw with a guide. I would have liked to have spent more time here, but there are SO many people moving through that you really have to just keep moving.

We had never heard of Zeki Muren before but so pleased that we got to learn more of this Turkish Superstar. A visit to his home in Bodrum is a wonderful distraction when it’s too hot and you fancy doing something different. The house/ museum is located near the far end of the waterfront and on Zeki Muren Street. Inside is a treat! You get to see his house filled with costumes, awards and records. Some outfits were outrageous and you got a sense that Zeki loved drawing attention to himself. Overhead his music fills the house and you can’t help like it!

Definitely worth visiting. A gay icon and clearly someone living his life to the full.

The amphitheatre is worth a visit for those staying in or near Bodrum as much as for views of castle as for the antiquities. Entry is free and the souvenir shop closed at the time we were there but there are clean toilets on site.

We walked there from our hotel along the seafront. Here are directions for those interested in also doing this on foot starting at the castle. It should take about 30 minutes.
    (1) go along the seafront promenade away from the castle. (2) go up the first street to the left (with your back to the sea) of Starbucks (3) turn left at the road junction at the top of this street (4) walk straight past the entry to the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus (5) turn right when you come to a mosque with a blue conical roof on the minaret and up the lane. This can be steep for a short stretch but there is a handrail on the right hand side for the less sure footed (6) When you get to the junction with the dual carriageway, you'll see a shelter to the right and a zebra crossing by it. Vehicles, many travelling at high speed, do not stop for pedestrians but using it provides an excellent view of oncoming traffic in both directions (7) Turn left when you've crossed the dual carriageway and the site will be a minute or two on the right.

Most of this area is privatised by big hotels however there is a small area that is still public and is worth going to. Decent sand as you enter the water and I was pleasantly suprised to find fishes whilst swimming I was only in the shallow end. Seems to be where the locals go and we liked that as it felt more cultural. No shop or anyone trying to sell you overpriced ice cream!

Heard about the windmills was really keen to go and see them. I can see them from my hotel. They could be so nice but they have been left to ruin amount of rubbish glass bottles graffiti and general detritus left around the site was really really upsetting to see. With a bit of money, that hotels in the local area or even the local government could make an effort and restore this area to its glory. Sadly, it’s been left to ruin. A really beautiful place spoilt by people. I would say that from the debris that I saw it was definitely not tourists that leave the mess a lot of native visitors go up the hill and drink around the area at night time. Looks like they were lit up at night, but vandals have smashed the electrics and the lights around the area.

I was still able to get some great pictures if you ignore the rubbish, such a beautiful place and such beautiful old buildings really sad to see them left like this.

We went on a day trip from Kos to bodrum , a lot of queues on and off the ferry and passport control. Lovely marina with lots of nice restaurants etc , the souks and bazaar were a bit of fun, there all selling poor imitations really but you can have a laugh with most of the traders if you enjoy a bit of haggling. We bought nothing other than lovely Turkish delights and some other sweets. Tried some of the local cuisine, plenty of places to choose from and got the ferry back . Overall a good day out and we enjoyed it and would recommend to pass a day of your holiday

Well worth a visit. You can walk to it from the centre of Bodrum. The video room has a really informative programme in English about the foundation of the mauseleum and also provides a cool place to get out of the sun.

Some lovely boutiques and eateries in this small marina. Good starting point to explore the old town. We ate at many restaurants across the street and were very satisfied. Highly recommended

I was not sure from the reviews so I needed to check, beside the fact that they charge 400TL for entrance and sunbeds the beach is nothing special, the only difference is that is with sand but I honestly prefer Ortakent beach because even though it's a little bit pebbly it has much more clear water and less crowd

Such a lovely vineyard with friendly staff and delicious food accompanying the wine tasting. The views of the grapevines are beautiful with olive and local fruit trees all around. So glad we found this local gem in Bodrum. Denis our Host @denizahmetkose was awesome - super knowledgeable and fun!
