What travellers are saying
- Ly HongPhnom Penh, Cambodia1 contributionI visited here on 24 - 25 Jan 2023, it has changed a lot since my last visit back in 2019.
There were no more kois, on the beach and it serves the public. You may enjoy family activities here (BBQ, Sunbathing, Swimming, Jogging or Relaxed).
You may bring your staff here if you preferred or you may rent from local vendors. Food is limited but there were a few options that you can order from local vendors at the beach.
There were a few landmarks created (#សិលាបដ្ដបណ្ដាសា #ដើមឈើស្នេហ៍ #សិលាចាំស្នេហ៍)។
I look forward to the next BBQ and relaxed by the beach trip soon.Written 1 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anton47 contributionsGood atmosphere and beautiful outdoor space to do photography. Water could be dried out when hot season.Written 28 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jacpaulAluva, India2,461 contributionsWe stayed in Sandy Beach Resort located on the east side of Koh Rong Samloem a very quiet and secluded island. We came by ferry from Sihanoukville to Saracen Bay on Koh Rong Samloem.
There are only a few resorts on this bay with a perfect setting of beach in front and jungles behind. As the beach is used mostly by the resort guests, it’s quiet and got much privacy. Evening time, the resort sets table and chairs on the beach where you can have your dinner and barbecue. Night is so peaceful and quiet with just the sound of the waves and crickets chirping in the background.
Though the water is clear in front of our resort I saw waste water flowing into the sea and was littered at many places. I wish the resort owners took the initiative for maintaining the beach. Otherwise, in the long run I am sure it’s going to affect their business.
There is only one store in the island which sells beachwear, hats, wine, bottle and some packed food items, which are all bit expensive. It’s better you come with all essentials.
Beach activities include snorkeling and scuba diving. Kayaks, quad bikes and mountain bikes are available for rent. Night boat trips are available for seeing the glowing plankton. You’ll see them advertised all around the beach or you can contact the resorts. There are a few trekking paths crossing from one side of the island to the other.
We had a big ferry while going from Sihanoukville to Koh Rong, but, while returning it was a much smaller boat. It was fully packed and the journey was not very pleasant as the boat was rocking too much. I was a bit scared as I have read about few boat accidents on this route.Written 8 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This market is huge and has a lot of things to see, to buy or to do like a haircut, makeup, massage etc. So spend some time there and enjoy :-).Written 9 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 4seasonswindArlington, VA116 contributionsNicest feature of this hotel is the infinity pool and the Brown coffee on the public beach front.
The path to the small private beach area from the pavilion units can be tricky to tread, wet and uneven.
The on-site restaurant food was mediocre, same with the breakfast buffet (fruits were not fresh).
The rooms were decent and clean but no ocean view from pavillion.
The whole beach area was disappointing; public beaches are littered with trash, tin barrels, and street vendors ruining the scenery. Plus all you see are abandoned constructions of high rise buildings everywhere apparently by chinese investors ( legit and not legit is what I heard) due to the pandemic
Otres must have been beautiful at one time; I see the natural beauty which is now marred by litter and abandoned buildings unfortunately.
Not worth the almost 3 hour drive from Phnom Penh.Written 26 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It wasn’t jus plastic bag trash, but rather a variety of trash which made it seem like they had taken bags and bags of trash from town and just dumped it in the ocean. The ocean then ripped apart the bags of trash and deposited it in the mangrove roots, on the beaches, in the waves, etc. Sad and rather disgusting.Written 20 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ANH1204Luxembourg62 contributionsThe beach is quite clean not to far away from city center.
Loads of restaurants catering all to a Chinese and Korean clientele.
The quality of the restaurants is decent but not extraordinary.Written 10 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Cambodia being a poor country made the journey there very bumpy due to the terrible roads but an experience. This temple a bit worn but beautiful, lots of different parts to it so making it an interesting historical place with there own not so wild monkeys about.Written 24 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - martymouseLlanasa, UK112 contributionsI would say, at the time of writing, the only reason to come here is to catch the ferry to the islands (Koh Rong/Samloen) ... and that is what we did. There is no other reason to be here and the road in to the pier/beach is a construction and disaster zone. It was mud, potholes, rubbish, abandoned (parked?) vehicles, taxi and tuktuk touts. The ferry could not have come fast enough ...
So why 'three stars'?
Well, we got to the ferry ... and this was what mattered and the Yasmine restaurant, where we got the boarding card and waited, was pleasant enough.Written 29 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very small town bars Along the beach no tourist souvenir shops. Really lovely. Walk right Along the beach for privacy.
We loved it.Written 25 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
