This is not a huge museum, but it features a number of interesting exhibits about local and global art and culture. The exhibits about Native Californians and the California Missions are a bit on the small and older side, but they still have some cool artifacts.

The Pacific Islands and Ancient Chinese art exhibits were really well done and the California Gold Medal exhibition had a nice variety of current artworks. Overall, this is a fine museum and a hidden gem in Orange County. Well worth a visit!

This is an unmissable boutique collection of mainly WWII era aircraft and vehicles. They include a B17, B25, and two DC3s among others. Most are kept in flying condition. As with other similar venues, a number of highly knowledgeable and friendly volunteers are at hand to answer any questions.

Great place for small kids filled with interactive areas. Kiddo was looking forward to see Dinosaurs which was more of a display area with a mini baby slide.

Shopping at Santa Ana’s Main Place Mall is always an adventure. Not only are the big name stores such as, Macy’s, JC Penney’s, Disney Store, Forever 21 there, but also some uncommon eateries such as Boudin Bakery, Mrs. Bean Jianbing & Genki Sushi. There is a small play area where the little ones can let out some pent up energy. For Christmas, there is a whole set up based on “A Christmas Story” for Santa pictures!

I went to this zoo on a whim as a primate fan and was not disappointed. It's a small place but well maintained and aiming to expand. The seasonal butterfly house draws a big crowd. The sole gift shop at the entrance has ice cream cups. Oh and the bald eagle is fine where she is. She is injured and cannot fly so that's why her enclosure has a lush ground level. In general enclosure sizes are just over the LA Zoo but smaller than in San Diego.

I visited during the Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day when Kellogg House (and the nearby Howe-Waffle House) were open the same hours. Although I looked on the website, I didn't see anywhere to get tickets. When I arrived, they told me they were sold out, but there were very few people around. Fortunately, they were able to "fit me in" within 5 minutes on a tour that wasn't full (and the docent said that there was no one scheduled for the next tour--strange). Tours that day were every 15 minutes and the docent provided no background information on the Kellogg family or the house, said a sentence or two in each room, and then urged us along. So I recommend visiting on a normal day with regular hours. I took pictures of the rooms and explanatory plaques, asked for a brochure, and got the background information that way. The grounds have other buildings, including a blacksmith area, but it is set up more for school groups than those seeking detailed history of the house.

I just sat down for a quick meal at a local McDonalds, a section of the Orange County Register newspaper had been left behind. I normally do not read this paper, but something caught my eye. It was story about a lecture the next afternoon, a Saturday, given about the history of surfing in Orange County. Just then, my schedule changed. I thought that this would be interesting to attend. It was one of those hot days that come unexpectedly. Found the location and after parking, walked into a world of my youth. Valencia Orange trees with fruit, a two story wood home, vegetable garden and more. Taking me back 60 years, to my Grand parents days in Anaheim, on the corner of Orange and Brookhurst Streets. Where they once owned a large Orange grove and Avocado Orchard. The Heritage Museum was filled with costumed actors, playing roles such as silver mine owners selling shares in their company, police and other officials. Oranges from the property were for sale at 20 cents each. Great taste, great value and an especially great treat. I highly recommend for an afternoon of historical celebration and remarkable fun.

If you took a walk during jury duty in Santa Ana, you might have strolled by this striking, historic house. I've always wanted to tour it, but there are limited days and hours. When it was open on Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day, I put it on my calendar. There was plenty of metered parking on the street nearby. It's a lovingly restored Queen Anne Victorian lived in by husband and wife doctors in the late 1880's. Docents were on hand to answer questions and offered tidbits of information not in the detailed brochure for the self-guided tour. Highlights for me were the woodwork, piano and organ, and the outfitted medical office. The life stories of the doctors were fascinating as well. The day we visited a woman was carding and spinning wool, so we got a chance to try it out. We also bought some local apple butter from a vendor. They have special events for holidays that I will definitely look into.

Stopped in to try some of their house brews. Had a decent variety and of the three I ordered all were good. Small place, and a little hard to find but worth it.

I am not a regular attender at the Calvary Chapel main services, but have been going to the free concerts and Bible studies since the early 70's.

They do a great job of making visitors feel welcome and preach a solid Christian message.

First Saturday of every month is Art Walk and all doors are open, artists exhibit their work outside, food is everywhere. A nice time for artisans to come and experience the place.

A relaxing place to spend time in the city. I enjoy spending my lunch break there. It is nice to get out of the office/or take a walk. Conveniently located near shopping, restaurants and take-out.
