What travellers are saying
- Michael TOakton, VA33 contributionsSurprising art museum. It used to be better. At our last visit 20 years ago it was an art museum in a historical environment. Now it’s a historical museum with some art. The art is spectacular (Monet, Degas, etc) but it’s too much focus on the historical (which lots of places have) and not enough on the art (extremely unique and amazing). Heck, The Great Wave they have isn’t even exhibited anymore 😞Written 8 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PickyTraveler4Sterling, MA94 contributionsWe decided to head south for some cross country skiing after learning that Farmington had the jackpot of snowfall for the area with 15 inches of snow 4 days ago. Sadly, there was significant melting and some bare spots on parts of the trails for our day of skiing. We still enjoyed the expansive network of wide trails, mostly through the woods and along some ponds. Could use some more maps hung up on trees when you are out on the trails. This is a day camp for kids in the summer, so several buildings, pavilions, and a large parking lot.
You need to order your passes ahead of time on their website. They have rental skis, pulk sleds for babies, and a kitchen serving lunch. I recommend the chili! Also the option to bring your own lunch.
Overall, a good day of skiing, but wish they had more snow.Written 17 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are relatively few opportunities to see a historic neighborhood with relatively few disruptions to it, so this is worth the drive and perhaps a walking tour, as long as you stay on public sidewalks. Really lovely town.Written 7 March 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Salvatore DFarmington, CT5 contributionsThe library staff is always helpful. The Library has a Maker Space with a sewing machine, an embroidery machine, a 3-D printer and other devices available to Library patrons.Written 8 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Elizabeth RFarmington, CT2,273 contributionsThe canals are miles of paved pathways created for recreational use over what used to be miles of railroad tracks. Hikers, runners, bikers, dog walkers, skaters – – you name it, use this wonderful designated area. There are parking lots peppered throughout the course, spaced with enough distance between to decrease the interruption in the pathway. On this day we chose the area closest to the Farmington River between Unionville and Collinsville — quiet, and serene, the river on one side of us as a picturesque backdrop. Grateful for the thoughtful use of old ways repurposed!! We plan on exploring many of the other sections of the canalWritten 21 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ConnecticutLocavoreConnecticut403 contributionsLovely house with welcoming volunteers. It is well worth seeing if you enjoy historic architecture or want to learn about 18th century life.Written 7 March 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kat1 contributionI have recently moved to Farmington and sort of stumbled into this family-owned shop in the search of a few items for my new house. This store is exactly what customer-service and honest business is about. Tom and Jean are wonderful people, who will go extra mile to make you feel welcome and appreciated as a customer. I highly recommend this store for all antique lovers.Written 30 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
