What travellers are saying
- VedicVeritasCambridge, Canada68 contributionsWe have a family of 5 with a spread of 6 years from our oldest to youngest. All of our kids (pre teen to 6 year old) had a great time at "The Strong" as did my wife and I.
At a normal museum you spend your time walking from exhibit to exhibit reading and looking at old stuff. At the Strong you spend most if not all if your time playing and interacting with the exhibits.
If you are only going for a one day visit, make sure to plan your day, as we took 2 days and did not see 7 of the exhibits after 11 hours and will be going back to check out what we missed.Written 22 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our docent was really knowledgeable about George Eastman and his contributions to the business of photography. The mansion would be worth a visit by itself!Written 7 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TeammilitelloDes Moines, IA741 contributionsIf you love touring historical homes, this one won’t disappoint. We got to see Susan B. Anthony’s actual black dress, crocodile leather bag, the actual bed she died in, and in the very room we were standing in. We also saw the room where Ida B. Hays (founder of NAACP) slept. We heard stories of Susan B. Anthony hanging out with Frederick Douglass. Made history very real for my children. Well done!Written 27 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- NuclearmombRochester, NY35 contributionsI always go a week or two before the start of Lilac Fest. The magnolia trees are at peak, and they are magnificent!Written 1 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - William FScranton, PA139 contributionsThis historic cemetery is a time capsule of Rochester and national heritage. Not only are there many notable locals buried here individually, in family plots, or larger organizational, church, and charitable plots, but also the well-known such as Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony.
Even in January there were dozens of people out walking and enjoying the peaceful setting. And the cemetery association and its Friends group have gone out of their way to provide a detailed map of the large cemetery to help find those notables. How much nicer it must be to visit in spring, summer, and fall.Written 25 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Seneca Park Zoo is a nice, little zoo. This was the second stop in an upstate zoo tour. It is not a 'destination' zoo for a trip for most people as you can pretty well cover it satisfactorily in less than an hour (though I spent the day) but it's a great experience for a morning or afternoon excursion. It has a very unusual, looong east-west layout and there is one path to the back and that's your path out. No 'regions' or 'ecosystems' so to speak and the trail runs, generally, along the north side of all the habitats making photography, especially late in the year, very challenging if the sun's out. Fairly well done habitats for the limited space.
The lion habitat offers some opportunities to get 'up close and personal' though the shot I got eye to eye with the one lioness had too much glare/reflection to be that 'special' shot. The baboons are very active and, again, the habitat allows for some close up encounters. Seeing the lynx feeding and getting their story from the keeper was a bonus. Nice sea lion habitat. Elephants, rhino and seeing giraffe 'training' rounded out a beautiful day. Oddly, the river otters, who normally are a highlight of any zoo visit, were rolled up in a ball, sleeping all day.
Staff here is very engaging and professional. This zoo also has ASL signage at all habitats. Something I've never encountered at any other zoo, which was very interesting. Some are actually 'motion' in that, as you pass, the person actually goes through the signing.
Very affordable and free parking.Written 12 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. To my surprise they were having a Native American Festival, Haudenosaunee Heritage Celebration Day.
Exhibits of tapestry, patterns, using of skins for warmth(shoe making), arrows, etc. a Dance demonstration also took place with warriors and ladies in their respective tribes attires.

- Tom SPlano, Texas, United States8 contributionsFrontier Field is a great place to catch a baseball game in the summer. All types of food and refreshments are offered along with a team store for clothing or memorabilia. The stands are always clean and there really isn't a bad seat in the house.Written 15 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Carol Ann JGermantown, NY1,783 contributionsHighland Botanical Park is a beautiful spacious park in the Rochester area. It has nice, paved paths and a variety of trees and flowering bushes depending on the season one visits. We enjoyed strolling in the park after visiting Lamberton Conservatory. The conservatory has different zones, each with lovely and unique plants. There are also fish, and small birds, as well as turtles and tortoises that live in the conservatory. Be careful will walking through the area, you may just meet a turtle on the same path.Written 14 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
