What travellers are saying
- Marc WWeymouth, UK1,396 contributionsWhilst doing my research for our Rv trip in Canada, I came across this place and added it to the things to do list.
I wish I'd looked into it a bit more as this place is amazing, and we would've loved to have spent more time here. So our visit was a bit time limited yet still amazing.
We saw a huge amount in a short time and even experienced a really cool old-time coach ride!
Being inside the old buildings reminded me of the old Western films that would be on TV! The floors creaked, the curtains swayed in the wind, and you could smell the old wood burning stoves.
All of this is set in some of the best outdoor scenery I've ever seen!
At only $17 pp to enter, it's amazing. When we visited it was quiet, very quiet, we only saw a few other people on site. If only we had had enough time to try the restaurant we would have! Also, on a side note, you can even park up your Rv here and stay a night or two.Written 3 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's a small camping area along the Hwy 99. There are enough picnic benches along the water and that is not really special. But the lakes are the opposite, clear green color water. We also stopped at the Pavillion Lake and the view is so beautifulWritten 7 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Q1578LVsandratSanta Cruz, CA17 contributionsThe visitor center was so cute, had lots of maps and brochures, and Cheyenne was really helpful with information about fishing and camping and extra fun and beautiful places to go. It was a fun experienceWritten 1 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Susan RNanaimo, Canada4 contributionsMy husband said not enough trains! Lol
Nice to have electricity…
but only 2 pit toilets when we were here.,…the flush toilet and shower facilities were closed and locked with no explanation. That was disappointing as I’d planned on showering here and my husband has mobility issues and pit toilets can be a challenge for him.
I only gave it a 3 as it was not what we were expecting without the facilities and we would have booked elsewhere
Otherwise I’d have given it a 4Written 3 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This small grocery store, run by the friendly young gentleman named Abi, has its unique charm.
Abi’s warm and welcoming demeanor made me feel right at home. It’s refreshing to encounter such friendly service in a local store.
Product Safety and Pricing:
While browsing the aisles, I noticed that some products had overlooked expiration dates. It’s essential for shoppers to be vigilant and check dates for safety.
On the downside, the prices were higher than expected. However, convenience and personalized service often balance out the cost.
Overall Impression:
Despite the minor hiccups, Grubstake Foodmart is a nice spot to visit. It caters to the community’s needs and provides a cozy shopping experience.
Next time you’re in Cache Creek, drop by Grubstake Foodmart and say hello to Abi.Written 29 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We learned that this land was once explored, then owned by William Sandford who used his nickname and called his home "Boston" Ranch. He irrigated the land, first planting potato and tomato crops. Today a nearby Mobile Home Park carries his name and is called Boston Flats.Written 12 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yvonne BPenticton, Canada387 contributionsAs avid geocachers, my sister and I visited Cache Creek known for its geotourism. Located at the junction of the TransCanada Highway and Cariboo Highway 97, Cache Greek was an important hub during the Gold Rush era in British Columbia. Our visit to this historical town was to participate in their "Gold Country Geotourism". It is a great way to explore both the town and local area. Using our hand-held GPS, we did some modern treasure hunting and found four (4) geocaches and collected a "Gold Country Geotourism" sticker for each. We discovered this area has an annual geocaching event that we have put on our future to-do list.Written 16 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tinus39mHouten, The Netherlands116 contributionsDeserted Village, nothing there.
most shops are closed, there is one supermarket with less food, everything is holdable for 10 years, lots of food cans, no fresh food at all.Written 3 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
