Breathtaking mountaintop views surround you in the peace of Monticello! We enjoyed our tours learning more about the history of Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of our nation, the Father of the Declaration of Independence and founder of the University of VA! We also
enjoyed learning about his family and about the enslaved people and the significant impact and contributions they each made.
Free shuttle service is offered with your ticket, from the main gate area to Monticello. Delicious and healthy food options are available on site as well as at the 18th century pub/tavern with exceptional service. We enjoyed visiting the museum and shopping at the gift shop! They have the best homemade bottled root beer and ginger ale. We appreciate the hospitality and professional service we received from each staff members from start to finish. I highly recommend visiting this beautifully preserved historical site!

UVA is a great school. At least that's what I read in every publication about school ranking.

But I was surprised that it wasn't "better".

The layout of campus is weird with the lawn in the center but encircled by dorm rooms and not academic buildings. It's very Mid Atlantic 1800s looking. Pretty column and lots of brick. The new buildings are nice as well combining modern feel with tradition.

But it is in the middle of nowhere and Charlottesville didn't feel like a bustling college town to me.

Beautiful, stunning winery. Shady spots with picnic tables or full sun or indoor AC. just Beautiful. Very eclectic mix of patrons, some dressed to the nines, others in shorts n tees. We did have a double charge on our cc n had to straighten that out the next day.

We booked a private event for 20 adults. The team are very accomodating, and we were able to take snacks/ drinks with us (they had set out a table for that too). After a detailed briefing we set to with our various designs - despite may of us believing we weren't creative! The owners are really helpful at suggesting solutions to any problems we may have in creating a particular effect. We can't wait to see all our finished pieces in a couple of weeks! Thank you so much for everything!

Very interesting! We don’t know much about this president and his life- Enlightening! His house no longer stands but the site is still fascinating!

We walked from the lower end of the trail near Virginia State Route 53 to the upper end leading to the David M. Rubenstein Visitor Center. The trail is well-groomed and wide but it is also a good workout since it goes up and down a mountain. Quite a few of the plants are labeled and the ten extended boardwalks are elevated enough to provide good views. There are also plenty of benches along the trail. The Rubinstein Visitor Center is very convenient. Even if you don’t buy tickets for Monticello, you may use the restrooms, eat at the café, and visit the gift shop, and enjoy the surrounding grounds.

Coming here was a bucket list things for us. This is the
FIRST time we picked apples. Lovely fall weather! They were very organized and the long lines moved quickly. YES, the donuts were worth all the hype! We drove in the day before (we live 3 hrs away) so we can enjoy the next day at the orchard without rushing. You must buy tickets in advanced. It’s for crowd control. I bought our tickets about 2 months in advance. We went on a sold out weekend so glad we got the tickets early! We’re
Comfortable shoes and wear layers! Be prepared to take a lot of photos.

My husband and I were just here to do a tasting. We enjoyed the pre-set wines in our flight but wish we could have put together our own choices for a tasting. The staff was attentive, and knowledgeable. The entire tasting room was quite clean and the views were excellent. Highly recommend the trip to try!

Our first stop on our winery visits. This is a smaller winery. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our shared tasting outside at a table overlooking the garden area. A nice selection of wines.

Nice theatre, beautifully restored. Shows movies occasionally and regularly presents live performances. Prices for movies are reasonable; event prices (as expected) will vary. Staff was friendly.

Does not currently have the ability to screen actual 35mm film, unfortunately.

I had never heard of Mulberry Row until I visited Monticello. I came to find out that Mulberry Row was where Thomas Jefferson’s slaves had lived and worked for the betterment of the Monticello State and for Thomas Jefferson and his family.
I read another review that there was a guided tour which we did not go on, because we didn’t even realize there was a tour for Mulberry Row. We toured it ourselves by traveling the long dirt road that was within the Monticello estate and quite close to the main house and toured the little houses and workshops that dotted the row.
There were placards of information inside each of the little houses or on the outside of the areas where buildings were in ruins. There were some docents at a few of the areas along Mulberry row where are you could sit and listen to them talk about the history of mulberry roe and of the people that lived and worked there. There is a small house that was only 12 x 12 where slaves lived. There was also a video in one of the smaller buildings that you can sit and watch for about five minutes they gave you more history of Mulberry Row and the crafts the slaves worked on and how they lived supporting Thomas Jefferson.
As you travel along Mulberry row from the beginning of the Monticello house estate down through the row it’ll take you to Thomas Jefferson cemetery where he is buried along with other of his family members. Once you are at the cemetery the free shuttle bus that drives around the Monticello Mountain estate can pick you up and take you back to the visitor center or you can go back in a circle up to the main Monticello entrance, since it is quite a walk up and down Mulberry Road to the cemetery.
Beyond Mulberry Row is a working farm with vegetables and plants of which are still in working order however is overgrown and should be harvested at some point. We took a tour of Monticello’s gardens and orchards which took us into the large garden area beyond Mulberry Row.
Such a poignant reflection when traveling by foot on Mulberry Row.

This is a super small museum . The art works on show are related to the many aboriginal tribes of Australia and the islands. The guided tour was excellent and we learned so much .
