What travellers are saying
- SprechsmomBaraboo, Wisconsin8 contributionsThis excursion was a great way to get to see a glacier up close. Our trip started in Skagway with a 27 mile ride to Glacier Point in an enclosed boat. Along the way our guide was filling us in with information about the scenery which included several waterfalls. When we arrived at Glacier Point we were outfitted with high rubbers boots, life jackets and an oar. We did a short paddle in a large canoe out to the Davidson glacier with some help from our guide, Leslie?, and her outboard motor. The glacier was incredible! The most beautiful shades of blue and white. We spent plenty of time out on the glacier
to get photos and experience the scenery. Before leaving the guides even provided us with lunch of sandwiches, chips and treats. All the guides on this trip were extremely knowledgeable and fun! The trip lasts approximately 6 1/2 hours.Written 26 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dimitris LSydney, Australia45,458 contributionsThe Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park Visitor Center is located in a lovely old building. It offers some useful information and there are some interesting exhibits a swell as audio-visual presentations. The film we saw was very informative and presented a vivid picture of the early days of people's struggles during the gold rush.Written 4 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Trevor J1 contributionSkagway itself is a must destination for your Alaska trip or cruise! My family and I enjoyed walking around the small town tourist section, getting to learn about the history of the town. Then, near the end of the main road shops, a small and quaint little photography shop, with beautiful and stunning images taken by the store owner. He has helpful in my questions about ordering a print, and was a super easy process! Definitely check this store out!Written 2 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dave BPinetop-Lakeside, AZ12 contributionsNice easy hike. Beautiful falls. No cruise ships were in town so it was not crowed! The cemetery was close by so I had a chance to see that as wellWritten 29 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tammyBaltimore_MdBaltimore, MD2,350 contributionsClimb is definitely not for those with trouble walking especially over rough terrain, but if you can handle it it's definitely worth the 30 minute climb on both directions
Stunning views from various advantage points & at top the lake is beautiful, great for swimming, dunking your feet or kayakingWritten 16 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. With this trail now on trip advisor there has been a huge surge in tourists walking the trail. On busy days I often avoid it now, but not necessarily because there is a lot of people, I am adjusting to that. It is mainly because its upsetting how much trash and noise I encounter while I'm hiking. So I hope this post reaches you before your hike so we can hike more happily amongst each other. Please leave nothing behind. Plan. Follow pack it in, pack it out. There is no trash cans and no trash service. Please keep your use of speakers to a minimum/ low volume. This is a wilderness park and there is a standard etiquette of not imposing on other peoples experience by blasting your music. I understand some people have no idea this is thing, but it is. There is an outhouse, use it if you have to go!
Thanks to all who already help steward the beautiful place you visit. If you haven't learned what that means yet that is ok, now is a great time to start!Written 7 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lunch is limited to an oversized hot dog and chips, but when paired with their IPA….awesome. A bit off the Main Street, but well worth the short walk. Nice selection of beer flights too. Prices are reasonable given Alaska. Highly recommend.Written 22 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dimitris LSydney, Australia45,458 contributionsThese two streets are the largest in town. In particular Broadway is full of some wonderful old buildings, full of history and charm. The streets are full of shops catering for the tourist dollar. There are many types of gift shops and far too many jewellery shops, as well as cafes, bars and restaurants.Written 4 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brooke J2 contributionsAs a resident I walk this trail a lot. It is part of my daily life. It is a gorgeous and mild walk and such a convenient and immediate retreat from town when you need a get away. With the surge in cruise ship passengers and crew coming out this way there has also been a increase in trash, cigarette buttes and noise. Please, please, please pack out what you pack in. And if you see someone else litter its greatly appreciated if you kindly ask them to pick it up. We need tourists to help each other remember that you are visiting someone else's home and we'll have a much better relationship if visitors are respectful.
Use the outhouse if you have to #2 (the dogs will find it otherwise) and be courteous by not playing loud music and leaving as little of a mark as possible. Huge thanks to all who already do.Written 7 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is very interesting wandering around reading the headstones and seeing the resting places of the people you hear in the stories told of Skagway.Written 22 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
