What travellers are saying
- Ph Ma20 contributionsA surprising find. A bit far from the marina of Laghi di Sibari, so a long walk or bicycle on the heavily travelled road.
The very friendly museum worker starts you out with an introduction at the beginning of the museum's exhibits, then you are on your own. There is an attempt at a more modern museum, moving beyond just broken pots in glass cases. The museum is well laid out, but a work in progress with extensions planned. Multi-media exhibits, some worked better than others. A few good films, but without chairs to sit during the long presentations. Other multi-media exhibits involving technology that didn't quite work, even with the help of the museum worker.
Only one of us could visit the archeological park, some distance away. Not walkable, and along a heavily travelled major road, so bike with caution. Mostly covering the cities of Thurii and Copia, and the museum attendant explained Sybaris would be more than 6 meters below, so no money to excavate it.

We woke up to a ‘dull’ morning near Trebisacce and decided to roam in search of a beach. On the road from Trebisacce direction Rocco a sign said Mare, so we went off road. But the Mare turned out to be a commercial operation and not to our taste, so on we went and landed ourselves in this tiny oasis. Lido Mary Gyu.
Literally full service and right on the beachfront, complete with sunbeds , parasols, kids play area and a lifeguard. Proper white sandy beach and a really nice cafe. You will find nothing more remote, or as unexpectedly completely what you wantWritten 13 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The receptionist at the marina was the sweetest, most accommodating and helpful person. She had one bike to lend us.
The marina is very quiet and you get very much "nature". The marina water is not potable, but there is a tap outside the museum.
The area is interesting, as it was once a luxury resort and an exclusive place to live, but after a conflict over the responsibility for resolving the silting at the entrance to the harbour, people abandoned their homes, while keeping ownership. So there is a mix of decay and economic decline with some luxury residences left. There is security at the entrance to the area, a jolly trolly that sits there, and a surprisingly well-stocked supermarket.Written 5 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
