“A prerequisite to writing reviews must be reading the guestbook (placed in the hallway) where all of our guests give us praise and criticism. It is filled with superlatives regarding our hotel considering the price. Fortunately it is only 1 in a 100 who criticize. Most likely sick behavior.”
WOW! Such a childish, ridiculous and totally irrelevant response. Is the Sognefjord Guesthotel Norways answer to Fawlty Towers?
In my review of this hotel, documented by photos, I pointed out three issues with this hotel two of which are potentially life-threatening.
1. Blocked fire doors. This is in clear violation of Norwegian law regarding fire safety. The metal fire doors are designed to automatically close when a fire is detected. If the doors are blocked by chairs or the automatic closing device is disabled (as it was in my photograph) people could die! I contacted the local fire department (sognbrann(dot)no) and was told that other guests had reported this. I don’t need to read the guestbook to report serious violations fire safety laws and regulations and how dare the hotel management insinuate that my reporting these serious violations is an indication of “sick behaviour”! It is obvious that the hotel management does not take this seriously. I will therefore strongly recommend that the Songdal fire department make a complete inspection of the entire hotel. The Songdal fire department should make regular unannounced fire safety inspections of Sognefjord Guesthotel.
2. The door locks on the hotel room doors are of the absolute lowest possible security standard. See the photo in my original review.
3. Ridiculously high prices for food. See the photos and descriptions in my original review.
It is true I did not read the guestbook at the hotel. Why should I? “…only 1 in a 100 who criticize”! Of the total 4 reviews currently on Trip advisor ALL of them are negative reviews.
I do not intend to stay in this hotel again so it is not a problem for me that the hotel charges exorbitant prices. It’s also not my problem if someone gets robbed or raped because the hotel uses locks of the lowest possible security standard. I did not try but it I am fairly sure that the key to my room will fit many of the other rooms.
If anyone notices the fire doors blocked by tables, chairs or other objects or discovers the door closer dismantled please take a dated picture. Send the picture to the local fire department (sognbrann(dot)no) and or send it to me and I will certainly forward it to the proper authorities.
A fire at the Sognefjord Guesthotel will not be as funny as the fire at Fawlty Towers!
