Hi, I currently live in San Luis Potosí (aprox. 4 hours of travel time) but never been to Real de 14. I'll be there for the whole next month, returning to San Luis on weekends. The issue is that I am quite phobic of tiny narrow steep roads full of curves, slopes and ravines and I'm somewhat afraid of travelling there. I've been told that the road is safe, but still a little worried. Could anyone describe the road and hit me up with some advice? Thanks.
I used to live in Real. The last 30 km of road from Matewala is cobblestone which makes the bus go quite slow. No big hair pin curves. Not one white knuckle moment until you reach the tunnel. But there is nothing really dangerous about the tunnel because traffic is highly restricted to being one way. If it helps just close your eyes until you get to the end of the tunnel. The COOLEST thing about Real is what you see at the end of the tunnel as it opens up suddenly to the high mountain village of Real.
