Is it possible to arrange a taxi to carry us from the Farmhouse to a nearby good restaurant? We will not have a car and plan to travel by train from London to Staplehurst, then by taxi (presumably Maidstone Taxi Company) to Sissinghurst Castle Garden and the Farmhouse, where we hope to stay over one night. What is the nearest good restaurant and approximately how much would the taxi be? Thanks very much for your help!
We walked to The Milk House - but It was the summer! We had a taxi to and from the rail station though, and Sue gave us their number, so contacting her would be a good idea. I'm sure you will have a lovely time.
The Milk House in Sissinghurst is a lovely restaurant, just a short taxi ride from the B&B. Alternatively, West House in Biddenden is a gorgeous place to eat, not far away but more expensive. Both will require booking beforehand as they are popular. Both are reviewed on TripAdvisor if you want to take a look.
We had a car when we visited, so we didn't investigate local taxi services. Sue at the Farmhouse B&B is the best person to ask - her email address is on the Sissinghurst Farmhouse website, so perhaps you could drop her a line? I can't see it being a problem at all; many people visit Sissinghurst without their own transport so the taxis must do that kind of trip regularly.
Have a wonderful stay in the UK. I hope the weather is kind to you!
