La Croisette Questions & Answers

Farnham, United Kingdom

Hi. I was in Cannes last autumn and saw all the construction work on Rue Felix Faux. It was so bad you couldn't walk by the beach for nearly a mile. Does anyone know when this is expected to be finished? Rob

Just checked on real estate French site..

Site is in French only:

"La deuxième partie des travaux, concérnant principalement le renouvellement des concessions d’établissements balnéaires, commencera le 4 septembre 2018 et durera jusqu'à la fin du mois de mars 2019, puis de septembre 2019 à mars 2020."

bottom line is:

Work continues till March 2019, then stops, then resumes in September 2019 and completes in March 2020.

Voila!

Hope this helps.

At this moment there are no work going on, and the construction walls are removed.

The work made so far at the beach restaurants is beautiful and was needed.

Hopefully they will do the rest of the restaurants next winter.

I'm sorry, I have no idea when all the alterations will end. Our last trip to Cannes will be our last for a very long while, as the level of cooperation we had from the French people was nil. We wanted to travel to Marseilles and had difficulty as machines were incomprehensible. To queue for a ticket at St Raphael back to Cannes we waited for half an hour, a usual wait, according to a local (I speak French, so know that this is accurate). The Supermarket staff were rude and non-cooperative. We were most disappointed, as this was our fourth visit to Cannes and previous ones had been fine. I imagine that Brexit may be to blame, or the fact that the French have many troubles lately (the 'yellow jacket' protests in Paris). The one good thing was the attitude and staff at the Novotel Montfleury Hotel. They were most caring and the prices were very reasonable. I found that groups of people were staying there and being taken to tourist attractions in the area by coach, and feel this could be a good option. We went to Malaga recently, and encountered politeness and good humour, I'm glad to say.
