We will be taking a train from Rome to Venice and are not sure which station we should plan on arriving at to be close to the Olimpia. And how close will we be to the Olimpia. Thank you for any information you can supply!
We suggest you to get off at Santa Lucia Station and if you are travelling light, walk to the Hotel ( it takes 10 minutes ). Cross the bridge of " La Costituzione ", the bus teminal of Piazzale Roma, and finally the little bridge of " Tre Ponti ".
The other 2 options are
1) water taxi ( Euro 50,00 )
2) water bus 1 stop, get off at Piazzale Roma Euro 2,50 and do a short walk to the Hotel as per our explanation.
Looking forward to welcoming you in Venice,
The Venice Santa Lucia Station is the main station for Venice. Hotel Olympia is to the right after you depart the station. You cross over the large pedestrian bridge walk through the lot where buses and taxis pick up and you cross over a couple of small bridges and the hotel is to the right facing the canal. Download the walking directions from google maps. That is what we did and they were accurate. Enjoy.
I am not sure which train will get you the closest to the Olimpia. But you want which ever one gets you the closest to the Piazzal Roma. This is a meeting hub (large parking lot) for busses, taxis, the People Mover tram, cars and the like. If you are standing in the North West corner of the P. Roma, you will be facing the Olimpia Hotel and you will be able to see the 2 little bridges that you need to cross to get there. The Olimpia is a wonder hotel. They offer free taxi service to Murano so take advantage of this, normally a water taxi ride to Murano is about $80 USD. Enjoy your trip, you will love Venice.
Sorry, correction to my earlier reply. Standing in the NORTH EAST corner of the Piazzal Roma you will be looking at the Olimpia hotel, NOT the NorthWest it's NORTH EAST!!
I agree with everyone here. One thing to add: As you step out of the station and view the magnificent scenery, the hotel will be to the right....we made the mistake of going left and with luggage, up and down the wrong bridges, it was tough. Have a wonderful time. We did. We will be going back again.
I completely agree with "49ERS" response. Venice St Lucia train station is the best to get off at. Once you get off the train, head towards the right, go past a taxi stop and past the bus terminals. No need for water taxi, walking time is about 10 minutes. As with all of Venice, there are little bridges everywhere so you're expected to carry your luggage across anyway. Its not a long walk, or hard, only 3 bridges to cross. Google 'map to Best Western Hotel Olimpia'. I found this map very helpful. Good luck and have a great time. :-)
