What is restaurant like for eating ? Any recommendations for other restaurants in Sliema or St Julian’s to eat at ?
We don't normally eat in the hotel restaurant when we go on holiday as my wife is vegetarian and we find that main meals are not that imaginative, just easy meals ( veg lasagne for example).
However when we stayed at the Waterfront we ate there 3 times as both veggie and meat mains were very good. There was always a joint of meat and a fish dish as well as various veg, several choices for dessert. We also ate out in St Julians - would recommend the China House and Padre Picollo Pizzeria which is in Balluta Bay. You can get there walking in about half an hour via the back streets or the buses stop close by.
The breakfast at the Waterfront is superb and the bar snacks are brilliant however, the dinner menu in the main restaurant is rather limited so I chose to eat in the bar or out.
The restaurant is good. That said, when I visit Malta, which is four times a year, I only book bed and breakfast as I have a lot of friends on the Island who invite me out to dinner, either at their home or to a high quality restaurant. When I last visited in April, my friend who travelled with me dined in the restaurant for dinner and said it was very good. You would probably be best booking only bed and breakfast as you can just turn up and book dinner on your room. This would give you the flexibility to visit any of the numerous good restaurants along the front or visiting Pereroncino in nearby Balluta Bay (the bay just before St. Julian's). By booking half-board you have already committed to not dining out in the evening. Go B&B and give yourself the opportunity and flexibility to do what you want to do on your holiday. You will enjoy it as having had a complete refurbishment the Waterfront is in a prime location with very good quality rooms and furnishings. You will meet Marvic and Joseph on reception and Jean-Pierre in the bar. They are all super people and all real characters. I wish I were coming with you, I have to wait until November for my next visit.
When you said What is restaurant like for eating Most mornings we dined at The Regatta Restaurant, with the full English, or Maltese bread, croissants, and cake and the lovely view from the Restaurant over Sliema Creek to Valletta. The dining room staff are quick to clear the tables and are very helpful.
As for evenings to the many local restaurants along the strand. IL- Malta 96 the strand is to the left while Anciova 154 the strand is to the right and just across the zebra crossing paparazzi 29 Manoel Island were three of my favourites, then the lobby bar for a last drink. Just three of the places we went to all within less then half a mile.
Restaurant is fine and a good selection of food. For a change a great restaurant nearby is the Black Sheep. On the promenade 400 yards from hotel towards the Ferries. Black Sheep is fantastic. Highly recommended.
Hi Gillian we''re in malaga atm, great hotel if you ever come to Spain again. Well eating wise I can't tell you a specific place,we just tried a few along the street towards the ferry, all were great, not expensive and friendly service. Have a great time there, we did.
The restaurant is super great. I held my small wedding dinner there - the same buffet they serve normally and it was delicious, plentiful and superb. I cannot recommend it enough.
I would strongly recommend Il Malti restaurant just a 5 minute walk along the front - especially if you like rabbit!
