Hi Janet,

There is a bus stop just next to Sudima Hotel entrance from where you can catch Bus No. 29 (with good frequency) which will take you to city centre. The bus fare per adult is $3.60 while more info is available on metroinfo website.

Moreover, hotel front desk staff can arrange a taxi for you which costs approximately $35 - 40.00 one way.

Happy Travels,

Thanks, Goannas, I finally found a website that gave the info. Looks like outside the airport, we can catch a bus for $3.50 and use transfers as long as not over 2 hours has passed. Looks like there are still lots of detours on their streets due to aftermath of earthquake! Thanks to all

It's possible there' a day pass available for buses. If that's of interest let me know as I know someone who lives there and my know. I'm not much help myself as we had a hire car the whole time we were there.

Thank you for your responses. We are in Christchurch for 2 nights and we are renting a car as we leave Christchurch. We will have to weigh the cost of adding another day of rental vs public transportation since taxi seems pretty expensive. You have all been very helpful!

There is a bus service from the airport to the city terminal Fare NZ$8 adult per head each way. Catch a bus on Memorial Avenue rather than returning to the airport. By taxi it's about a 20 minute drive to the city cost NZ$35 each way.

Because of the hotel's close proximity to the airport there is a consistent bus service from the airport to the city terminal close to the city centre. Fares in early 2014 were about NZ$8 adult per head each way. There may be a more convenient bus stop on Memorial Avenue rather than hiking over to the airport. By taxi it's about a 20 minute drive to the city in light traffic and in early 2014 cost NZ$35 each way. Safe travelling!

There are a couple of options, buses do run along the main road which is basically out the front of the hotel, or you could jump on the hotel transfer bus back to the airport (only 2mins, or 5 min walk) and grab a city transfer from there which would be quicker in the longrun. Taxi I`m not too sure about, I would imagine in the $25/30 range but probably best to google this one. Hope that helps.
