Hello can anyone help with which best currency to take to hanoi? Dollar or Vietnam currency.
If I had to choose between the two, I would take USD. However, using your ATM at the many banks around Hanoi is your best option. Organize this option with your bank before you leave. Carrying around lots of cash is always risky, so if you use an ATM, you can withdraw the amounts you need for that day.
US dollars, though I also took AUS dollars and a couple of other currencies as well. Banks and money changers will all take any currency that is offered - major ones e.g. pound, euro etc. Rtaes can vary between banks, airport and hotels and street changers. Just check a few around where you are staying, with or without a fee and what the offical rate is. Sounds a bit but very easy. Usual trick ensure you count it in front of them to check.
it is better to bring USD. you can convert all your usd into vietnamies currency(dong) when you are in vietnam. they have a few currency changers which will give you good rates. at the airport they also have currency changers but the rates are not as good as in the city. in vietnam they trade both in usd and dong.
Vietnam Dong is the best in Vietnam.
If you are in Hanoi, you can go to Ha Trung Street, to exchange $ to VND. Or going to any gold selling shop or bank is OK.
