Having just read the latest reviews we are Quite concerned about coming now on the 28th.. Can you tell me please if the entertainment will be on? Will The restaurant staff be able to cope with the guests ?and will the air con working in all areas?
Hi, we are working on entertainment now and we will have it before the 28th , in fact as of the 18th everything should be fine. At Sentido there's only one air conditioned restaurant, Mo's the rest within the complex are open. We do have a shortage of staff, its not that we are reducing due to cost savings, it's not as easy to find good quality staff however we are recruiting on a daily basis. Its not as bad as some make it sound on some reviews. As you probably realize some people just like to complain instead of enjoying their holiday. Ask for me on arrival so I can make sure you receive extra attention. Kind Regards John Lagos
If you can change your hotel do it. Worst holiday I have ever been on. Trip advisor won't publish my review for some reason - it was published and then removed. Literally have nothing to say about the place! You can see from managements responses to reviews how rude and unprofessional they are - they basically disagree with what people are writing rather than using the feedback to improve this absolutely horrific resort!
The Reef Oasis was as bad as people reviewed it to be. I have holidayed abroad on well over fifty holidays many of them being all inclusive and have never experienced such a dissapointing time. This is the first time I have ever complained about a holiday in my life. If you can change your hotel before you travel do. Take my advice!!!
Sorry Sharon, I was under the impression you were going to be staying at Reef Oasis Beach Resort, rather than the Sentido. I can only comment on Reef Oasis, which is where we stayed, as guests there are not permitted to use the one air conditioned restaurant on the resort that Mr Lagos mentions.
Sentido is a separate hotel within the resort and it is a very 'us and them' situation:- they even have different coloured and 'non threadbare' pool towels, unlike guests at the Reef Oasis, so it is clear who the 'haves and have nots' are throughout the resort.
Sentido guests can use all the facilities at the Reef Oasis, but Reef Oasis Beach Resort guests are not permitted to use the majority of the Sentido's.
However, in saying that, the doctor is based at the Sentido and we did, like many others, have to venture there on a number of occasions during our holiday, as my daughter injured her hand very badly on a broken pool tile and we were back and forth for the 1st week having the injury seen to.
Credit where credit's due though, the doctor was extremely good and I am very grateful for his kind help, but the accident would never have happened in the first instance, had the pools been maintained properly.
However, if any of your party become victim to the sickness and dihorrea or eye infections there, it is better to go to the on site pharmacy for medical attention as the medication is good and cheaper than having to keep paying the excess on insurance to see the doctor.
It's a shame that the impression that the management have is that some people 'just like to complain'. Maybe if they acted upon customer feedback and stopped lying to guests about when entertainment will restart (we were pronised the 1st Aug, then the 4th, but still nothing when we left on 7th), or advised of the situation before guest arrived, rather than taking their hard earned cash and failing to mention it at all, then guests wouldn't have complaints.
I foolishly spent over £3000 on this holiday for myself and 2 children, expecting basics as detailed, such as bath towels, toilet rolls and tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Unfortuantely this was not the case. In addition, we had issues with broken toilet, broken TV (3 times), broken patio doors etc. We also had a cleaner who initimidated me after I had asked Guest Relations for reapirs to be done and for the basic items, demanding that I write a letter to say there were no problems - he even gave me the pen and paper to write it with, whilst standing over me! Not the kind of behaviour expected at a 5* resort!
To add insult to injury, it seems the cleaner also ran up a bill on our room phone during our stay, as I discovered when asked to pay for his bill when we checked out.
Not all of the slides at the waterpark are working and the snack bar there is closed. Drinks machines at the beach bar were not working during our 2 weeks stay either. There is not enough seating in the main bar, so unfortunately, even once you've queued for a drink, there's noweher to sit and relax to drink it. The kids club consists of 2 lovely young girls, doing 2 hours face painting on the beach in the morning and 2 hours face painting in a shed with no locks on the doors in the afternoon, although it was sometimes shut with no prior warning. There is no proper kids activiies, just face painting.
Also, if you do go, don't buy anything from the shop which sells the cameras on site as they are very expensive and leak, then they refuse a refund on them.
The Tiran Island trip is reommended (book direct with the Dive club as cheaper than Thomas Cook) and also the dolphin experience or show. However, Thomas Cook have taken it upon themselves to slate the place as they don't have a contract with it and therefore refuse to book it for you as they don't make any money from the bookings. They tell some terrible lies about how the dolphins are in bad health and are being torutred to perform and how the pool they are in is tiny and filthy - this isn't true at all. The dolphins are happy and healthy and the pool they're in, actually looks cleaner than the hotel pools as there are no scum marks round the edge. If you would like to go, book direct with 'Geeza' at the hotel, he will look after you very well.
Once management at this hotel change their attitude, start listening to guest feedback, rather than criticising and act accordingly, it could be a lovely place, until then, it will continue to go downhill and they will receive more negative feedback; sad, but true, I'm afraid.
The feedback should be viewed as an opportnity to improve, rather than an opportunity to 'bad-mouth' your guests!
*update* I have just heard today from someone at the hotel, who says there is still no entertainment
The entertainment was promised to re-start on 1st August, but there was still none when we left on 7th August. There has been no entertainment at the hotel since mid July and despite numerous promises that it would restart before we left on Thursday, it didn't.
There is air conditioning in the rooms, but no air conditioning in any of the bars or restaurants, or arcade and only in a small area of reception. Temperatures were around 42 degrees when we left 2 days ago.
Staff were struggling to cope with the huge volume of guests when we left 2 days ago. The hotel is full and you will need to queue for drinks at the bar and possibly to get into the Citadel restaurant on some nights as it does get very busy. You should also expect to wait for tables to be set up and for cutlery, glasses and cups etc when entering any of the restaurants as they are always busy. You should also expect to wait up to approx 15mins for a drink with dinner.
This is probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but if I were you, I would change to another hotel as you will be disappointed as we were.
I hope you have an enjoyable holiday wherever you end up.
It's sad to say but agree with the reviews. I went to the reef oasis beach resort last year on holiday with my husband and 2 children. We got food poisoning and we're all I'll from the food. The hotel was awful. It was the worst holiday we have been on. Anyone going there I was advise to try to change to the sentido which was better quality than the reef. Both hotels are next to each other on the same complex. Or I would advise to see if you can cancel now. It was an awful hotel.
I just wanted tko find out if the hotel have wifi in the rooms, irons for guests & airport transportation service?
I just had news tonight, from someone who is at the Reef Oasis hotel now - the update is that there is some form of evening entertainment that has just started, but it's an Italian animation team, so is in Italian.
I also asked about the situation in the restaurants and have been told that there are even fewer staff there now than there were when we were there a few weeks ago, so service has got even worse. Apparently, a large number of staff are unhappy there and have moved to other hotels.
