Tzar Travel - Natalya German-Tsarkova Questions & Answers

Encinitas, California

Hi. My wife and I are art lovers and have been to many museums. Do we really need a guide to visit the Hermitage? We plan to spend the entire day at the Hermitage. I assume they have audio guides there. Thanks

You can enjoy without a guide. We just had the extra benefit of someone who knew the museum. When I mentioned that I like the Flemish still lifes she took us right to them. But if you get to spend an entire day there I envy you. We were only there for a few hours. but with an entire day you will be able to see so much more. Have a great time

The Hermitage is a very large museum, spread over more than one building. It's usually very busy, and the "must see" exhibits are not well signposted (at least not in English). We used a guide, and we're glad we did. She was able to steer us to the rooms, periods and artists which we particularly wanted to visit.
