Protea Hotel by Marriott Kruger Gate Questions & Answers

Gurugram (Gurgaon), India

I would like to know if this property is inside the park or note. When park gates close at 6 pm in January, do we have to come out of the park or is this located inside the park?

Good day, this property is 500meters for the Kruger Gate Entrance. You will have to leave the Park when it closes.

As all the other answer have already advised this hotel is outside of the park, so yes you would have to be out of the park by 6 when the gates close. It does however have a great game viewing platform across the Sabi river where you can see elephants and buffalo sometimes. In addition bush buck and vervet monkeys roam the grounds of the hotel. There is a safari office which will arrange game viewing tours for you. We had a very early one this year, but viewing in the dark we thought was a waste of time. First thing in the morning is good, but we had our best hour between 5-6 pm when we saw rhino, cheetah and a leopard in quick succession

It is right outside the park, perhaps a quarter mile by road. There are no lodges closer. It is a wonderful place. I don't know if there are lodges within the park, but you can Google it.

The hotel is across the river from the Park, right by the Paul Kruger Gate. This allows easy access into the park at opening time and means that you can be one of the last out and immediately arrive at your hotel without having to travel any further distance. Even if you stay inside the Park you still have to be in your Camp by gate closing time and are only allowed out if on a organised Night Game Drive. Far nicer accommodation and facilities than the camps inside the park, unless you want to be at an Exclusive Lodge where you will pay very high rates for VIP attention.

It is located outside the gate but only just. The hotel is situated on the banks of the Sabi river with just a bridge separating. You would have to be out of the park and inside your camp by 6pm or gate closing time. The hotel is a wonderful luxury affordable option to the more basic Satara which is the closest in park camp. Hope this help.s

Hi, the hotel is right at the Kruger gate outside the Kruger Park - Best place to stay nothing inside compares with this. A bit more pricey but hey you pay for the value! You still hear the Kruger park noises and smell the potato bushes et al.

The hotel is just about 100 meters outside the Paul Kruger Gate. If you are with your car traveling, you have to go out at the time, the park closes. Probably the hotel can arrange game drives.

As the others have mentioned it is outside the park. We were on a tour and so had our safaris arranged for us. However, to confirm what another person said - the morning safaris were much more interesting than the evening ones, we did two morning ones and an evening one and quite honestly the evening one wasn’t really very interesting at all. But, got GREAT animal shots on the morning safaris

The previous answer is correct, the hotel is just outside the gate. However, we found the best viewing time for the most active animals was right at dawn in the morning, so I would not be too worried about not being in the park at night.

The park is located right outside of Kruger Gate. So yes, you are OUTSIDE of the park and have to pay admission to get in.
