Disney's Coronado Springs Resort Questions & Answers

Santa Ana, California

I keep reading reviews about Coronado Springs that are not good. The rooms being dirty or not cleaned regularly, bugs in the rooms, and unpleasant staff. I have booked a two week stay the end of December and am feeling very wary about spending almost ten thousand dollars on a Disney vacation that might not be very pleasant. Is there a chance that there might be a change in the management before December?

The room we stayed in was spotless and sometimes you may see a tiny bug or two because it is Florida. We didn't have any issues with the cleanliness of our room, however I did leave a cute Mickey or Minnie envelope with $5-6 in it on the bed every morning, I think that helps A LOT! The property is clean and very well maintained, the dining areas are also very clean. Since you are going in December you shouldn't have that much of a problem with bugs. Please check to see if there are any conventions being held at the time you will be visiting. We went in thinking only business conventions are held here until hundreds of high school kids showed up for some convention and ruined it for everyone. We liked Coronado Springs but we won't go there again. The best rooms are at Grand Floridian, Boardwalk, Contemporary and Animal Kingdom.

We have stayed in many of the moderate and deluxe Disney resorts. If you have never stayed at a Disney resort, you have nothing to compare Coronado Springs to and may be completely satisfied, However, if you have stayed at other Disney moderate and deluxe resorts, I am afraid you will not be happy.

If you can change your reservation, I suggest booking another resort for your two week stay.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your question. We love this resort. Besides the Magic Kingdom, it is right between all of the other parks. Great location. We rent a car so we don't use the bus service. The staff has always been incredibly helpful no matter what. Last year I messed up some items with our dining plan and the staff did everything they could to help. The problem was quickly corrected. We have never had a problem with a dirty room. It has always been clean and ready for us. The rooms are a bit smaller than the deluxe hotels but so is the price tag. Anyways, your also not in your room much anyways. The grounds are very spread out so even though there are a ton of rooms, the resort never seemed busy (besides the pool). Speaking of the pool, it is awesome. The theme is great but it does get busy. My one complaint is that they need more refilling stations for the refillable mugs. It shouldn't take 10 minutes to fill up a mug.

We stayed there back in March (2014), and unfortunately, we were one of the families that had a tragically poor experience. I am glad that others have had good ones, and generally, I am one to say that "I have to experience something myself" but I WISH I had seen some of the negative reviews prior to our stay myself. I may have reconsidered which "Moderate" resort we chose to stay at... or I would have just bit the bullet and gone with a "Deluxe" had I known what to expect. I was very disappointed in what we received for our money.

There were dead bugs in the light fixtures right over the beds, so when you lay down to go to sleep you were staring at their carcasses. There was mold in our bathroom. And there were a handful of USED TISSUES between the bed and the night stand, presumably from the previous guests. The staff that night had us waiting until nearly FOUR in the morning to be moved rooms after being given the run around. My daughter had fallen asleep CRYING because she was scared that the bugs were going to get her and I'm sure she could sense our anxiety after the traumatic day to begin with.

When they attempted to relocate our room the next morning, SWEARING that it would be cleaner and nicer than the previous... it wasn't. Again with the creepies in the light fixtures and some used cotton swabs in the bathroom... I was less than pleased for the price. Needless to say, after a long day of travel and having issues with our magic bands and meal plan in the park the day before and ZERO sleep the previous evening, that was the straw that broke the camels back and put our vacation into a tailspin that we didn't really recover from.

My (now) five-year-old daughter was greatly affected by this experience, as now any time we are going to stay in a hotel that she is unfamiliar with she starts to fret and ask, "Is it going to be like that scary hotel at Disney with the bugs?" I'd recommend staying at a different resort if you are able to change your reservation.

I understand there are bugs in Florida. If there were a few moths or something that had snuck into the room, or something like that I wouldn't have had issue... but a very LARGE pile of dead insects in something that is going to be above your head all night while you sleep is a cleanliness issue that housekeeping needed to address. (Not to mention the used toiletries left behind from previous guests!) I also understand that Disney has a tiered hotel system. Coronado was what I would have expected at a VALUE resort. I expect at least Holiday Inn quality from something Disney would call MODERATE and we didn't get that on our trip.

I've stayed in this hotel twice in two years and never expirenced anything like that. I can see where you worried thou. From my managment expirence managment can be replaced over night. In your case I wouldn't just hope on new managment. I suggest you check in early and see the room before the rest of the guest fill up the your options. If you do come across an unpleasant staff or you just not satisfy with the outcome I recomand from expirence going to another staff personal. At times people either don't know or can't help you but a second opinion is always better. Best of luck to you and your family.

I've stayed at almost every resort at Disney and have never encountered a staff that wasn't completely professional and courteous. It's one of my favorite resorts but some rooms can be a good walk fro the main area. It can not be helped. Its a big resort. The walk is pleasant enough though the grounds and pool are beautiful. If going in late December it will be crowded beyond belief, but if you hit the parks on Extra Magic Hour days ( morning hours) and get in the park as soon as they open you can get all of the popular stuff done with no problem. Then you can enjoy the pool in the afternoon and return for the night time festivities. I've never encountered a room that wasn't clean at Disney, but if you have a problem be calm and polite and they will take care of you.

Don't know about any management change. The big pool is nice. The place has an isolated feel, which may appeal to some. It was very deserted. In a busy season, it is prolly packed. You are most likely there to go to the Parks anyway, and will spend minimal time in the room. As far as the other commenter's snide remark about "a negative review", you will have to judge for yourself. Please do post an update after your stay. The staff was pleasant.

I was there in May only two nights. The grandsons mom picked CSR because they like Mexico theme.I would have gone value room ,but it was their trip and this space was twice as big.The place is pretty and the two pools ( 7b?) were great.Big one was rockng,we had the smaller pool right out the door. The rooms were clean, and cleaned daily,no complaints. Its "colonial"and painted to be antiqued. Staff was smiling ,took care of us ,got me a ticket, added me to reservations, and cab to airport..They were all super nice imo..( I have an uncontrolable smile on my face when in disney).

It is jungley, saw geko, ducks ,mihna birds. Love bugs are dead now, they are only out in spring ,dont do anything and die.never have i seen a bug in a Disney room.Florida HAS BUGS!

If you are leary ,depends on kid ages ,but I would recommend switching to either Grand Floridian,on monorail, majic kngdom. decked out for Cristmas, its breathtaking.Boardwalk ,at Epcot back door, has nice pool and loads of fun, really nice too.keep pestering them, dreams can come true... Im pretty sure mngmt doesnt change, depends on what type of vacation you need, coranado is out of the way,the buses ran fine.XMAS is a different time,VERY crowded! get going early if you want to get in magic kngdom.or any park. Did you do the dining package?too much food!!

Coranado has alot of space ,may be a good choice for xmas time.Hope you have a magical time and this helps.

I have read this about a lot of hotel/motels. When they (Disney) hear about this I have been told that they do a deep clean on the rooms. Are you going through a travel agent?

I do not see how you could be upset with this Resort. If it is just the one persons negative comments that could really throw a bunch of visitors off. It is steps above the Value resorts. However they do not do turn down service for you that is the High end ones. This place has been head and shoulders above the rest in our books. Staying there over 10 x a each level of experience. This was our favorite, due to the cleanliness, rooms, pools, restaurants, customer service, and value. I would ask for preferred rooms. Remember that if you are put into a room and do not like it they are usually happy to move you and will do what ever to make you happy.
