Are you walking distance to town? We are bringing in two guests from Switzerland on an all-too-short western state sightseeing trip.
We are not within walking distance of the downtown area, with a car we are only 5-10 minutes away from the shopping and restaurants. We are located in a quiet residential area with great views of the La Sal mountains and red rock formations, the best part about being out of town is the amazing night sky and the opportunity to see the stars from our very own back yard (and hot tub!)
No, unfortunately this B & B is just a little bit too far from the downtown area to walk, especially on the busy roadway. Anna and Vic can steer you the right way, but my guess is that a cab is the only way to get anywhere when you don't have a car.
Google Moab taxi and you'll find some choices.
the distance to central Moab is about 4 ½ miles. It is a 5-8 minutes car ride to shopping, tours and rentals and restaurants. Walking by feet is not recommended - it really takes too long. If you want to reach shops and restaurants by feet you must book a hotel along main street. There it is busy and noisy. You must have a car to reach the attractions that are situated in the vicinity of Moab.
As noted by other guests, you are definitely not within walking distance of downtown. You will definitely need a car to get to downtown and the restaurants, and the shops.
Definitely contact Anna or Vic at Desert Hills. They are very helpful and will know your best options. This B+B is definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed (and we are pretty well traveled in the states) and reasonably priced. Espeecially after you get there and really feel like your a family guest and they are just opening their home to you. They keep snacks around and breakfast was Awesome both days we were there. My picky youngest teenage even bragged and that is really saying something!!
No it's not within walking distance, it's quite a away out of town, but don't let that stop you from staying there, it really is a superb stay.
The B+B is about 4.8 miles to downtown. It might take 2 hours to walk. I do not know if there is public transportation available. Having a car would be best. The owner is very helpful and honest, so I suggest you contact them to find out if they have any suggestions.
