how far is this hotel from the airport and are there buses from airport or to places around the hotel?
There is not a hotel at the botanical gardens. So, not sure what hotel you're talking about, but Albuquerque does have a pretty good bus system.
You will need a car or form of public transportion as the hotel is in old town and is about a 7 minute drive to/from airport.
I'm not sure if this was a serious question or not. Everyone knows that a Biological Park is just that, a Biological Park. The closest decent hotel is in Old Town. The best hotel is the Albuquerque Hotel located on Rio Grande Blvd. I'm sure they can help you with the simple directions to the park.
The airport is 14 minutes by car and about an hour by bus from any of the many hotel accomodations near the "Old Town " location of the Biological Park. If you choose an up-scale hotel near Old Town they can probably give you complementary shuttle to/from the airport. If you stay at The Montarey Non-smokers Motel (see reviews) the bus stop is very close. Frank N is correct to say that distances encourage a personal car anywhere west of the east coast.
New Mexico is an expensive auto rental destination so you are forced into making a choice between money and time.Still, ABQ is a fabulous taste of the southwest.
Same response, but ABQ is quite extensive and using busses out West is not any easy chore. I had friends take me from and to airport, which seemed quite a way out. Used cabs most times when friends were not available to get around ABQ but found cabs fairly expensive and cab drivers willing to go out of their way (literally) to jack up the cab fare.
