why has room prices gone up so much in the last couple of years
Demand I guess! Hawaii is so popular with Australian and New Zealanders as it is a 10 hr flight and it breaks up the flight time to LA. most people want beachfront accommodation , and as there is minimal rooms as the waikiki beachfronts are older hotels some are only four to six stories high, not 30 stories like the newer hotel builds, so less total ocean front rooms ! Prices start from us $700 , if you only go once , then worth it to blow the budget. Enjoy
First a lot of the hotels have renovated recently, second the US Dollar has fallen a lot in value and therefore for foreign tourists, especially Japanese and Europeans, our prices seem very cheap, therefore hotels and resorts have found they can charge substantially more since in terms of Yen and Euros their rates are still a bargain.....you see the same thing at Disney World.....and they are still booked solid......When we were in Waikiki, for every 100 tourists, the vast majority were Japanese followed by Australians....Americans only made up a small portion of the guests at the Outrigger and the Royal Hawaiian.....
I think a lot of it depends on how & when
You book your room. Outrigger is one of
the most popular hotels in Waikiki with its
central location. Try Outrigger. Com or
Just call them. Have done it both ways.
Seems being friendly with the person on
the phone helps. They will work with you.
Our room was similar to three years ago and the earlier you book the cheaper. Not many direct booking sights seem to list this hotel so am guessing the hotel is fairly popular so they don't often offer cheap rooms
