I agree with the other responses fly to Ivalo. It's a beautiful little airport and depending on the time of year you travel you feel like you are landing in the middle of a forest. You can take an overnight train from Helsinki but you will be surprised how long it takes to get as far north as you need to be and I believe it could be cheaper to fly than to take the train. The hotel owner is a really nice helpful guy so if you need any further help he will help you. He also speaks very good English. Hope this helps?

Hi,

are buses readily available from the airport to Kakslauttanen. We have planned a trip to Kakslauttanen arctic resort. They provide transfer, but want to see if there is a less expensive option available.

Thanks!

OOPS you said Helsinki! You need to catch an internal flight to Ivalo airport and then the bus can pick you up!

We had transport provided by the company that booked our holiday. However, I think they had just arranged for the hotel bus to pick us up. I believe if you contact the hotel directly they will be happy to arrange this service for you. I believe it is the way most people arrived.

Hi tsang, I went in February, you actually fly to Ivalo from Helsiniki with Finnair it's a 50 minute flight, and then the hotel collects you by coach and it's a 30 minute transfer to the hotel. Well worth it, it's amazing and we got to see the northern lights. Do nt fly to Rovaniemi, it's the wrong airport for kakslauttanen and is miles away.

You can fly to Rovaniemi and get a bus but the closest airport is Ivalo.
