Arriving in Cancun

Cancun International Airport is perhaps the busiest in the region as well as the gateway to the Riviera Maya. Over 12 million passengers pass through the airport currently, and this is only likely to rise due to new large tourist resorts being built in the region. It currently has two runways to cope with this traffic and three terminals, so getting cheap flights to Cancun should not be a problem. There is a business lounge at the airport which has unlimited wireless Internet access. The airport is only around 25 minutes from the actual city of Cancun. A bus service provided by ADO is the cheapest transportation option, but there are shared shuttle minibuses and taxis available as well.

If you prefer you can hire a car from the airport where most of the major rental companies are present, such as Dollar, Thrifty and Budget. The nearby island of Isla Mujeres is accessible by boat from the nearby town of Puerto Juarez, if that is your final destination after your Cancun flights.

It is well equipped with shops, golf courses and every convenience to keep the visitors entertained. The water sports on offer include scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing. It is a convenient place to explore the Mayan culture such as the Chichen Itza on the mainland of the Yucutan peninsula, which is easily reached by bus or via a coach tour. This alone, is definitely worth your airfare to Cancun.
