Visit the Merseyside Maritime Museum to discover Liverpool’s original claim to fame. A climb to the top of its tower affords visitors impressive views around Liverpool. Head beneath the city and explore the Williamson Tunnels, built by one of the city’s more eccentric philanthropists.

Shopping, Dining and Nightlife

Shopping seems to be one of Liverpool’s great attractions, and visitors will find no lack of variety on offer here. The futuristic Liverpool ONE is home to high street stalwarts John Lewis and Topshop, as well as hipster chains Urban Outfitters and The Apple Store. Cavern Walks offers a greater choice of independent boutiques as well as a selection of high-end brands. There’s just as much choice on offer when dining in the city centre. Visit 60 Hope Street for elegant dishes such as foie gras ballotine and seared duck breast, and sample its signature deepfried jam sandwich. Kimo’s is a favourite among the student crowd for its cheap but hearty menu featuring standbys including fish and chips, kebabs and burgers. Albert Dock has a number of popular nightspots such as Circo and The Baltic Fleet.
