Arriving in Palma Mallorca

With so many flights to Palma Mallorca, it is one of Spain's busiest airports, and it offers many passenger services. Son Sant Joan Airport is located 8 kilometres from the city. It is served by local taxis, route 1, and 21 bus services into Palma.

The EMT operates an efficient bus network in and around Palma. Bus services beyond Palma leave from the main bus station, which is located near the train station on Plaza Espana. Trains travel to the north, serving a number of towns. To the west, on the narrow Tren de Soller, visitors can take a 27-kilometres scenic trip to the town of Soller.

The bus de nit, or night bus, runs every 20 minutes between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. City tours are available on the number 50 bus, or by Galeras, an open-top carriage. Both travel around the sights of Palma. Taxi services within Palma are good, although taxis can only carry four passengers.

History and culture abound

As an historic region, Palma de Mallorca and the surrounding area have a lot to offer. The 10th-Century Arab baths in Medina Mayurqa are an early ruin. Le Seu, Palma's only Gothic cathedral, and Castell de Bellver, a 14th-Century castle, are both well worth a visit.
