Arriving in Benidorm

Playa Levante is popular for its clean, flat stretch of sand, lined by a wide promenade and a selection of restaurants. Look out for the incredibly detailed sand sculptures along the way. Take the family to Terra Natura for a chance to explore the world without leaving Benidorm. The theme park is divided into different ‘continents’, with each section featuring flora and fauna from that continent. Enjoy a boat trip out to Benidorm Island, an islet a sitting just off the town. The wildlife reserve on the island is famed for its large peacock population. Escape from the tourist hordes by strolling through the Old Town, where the quiet, winding streets are reminiscent of historic Spain.

Shopping, Dining and Nightlife

There are a large number of souvenir shops in Benidorm, especially around the town centre and along the beaches. Intrepid shoppers may be able to pick up some bargains from the twice-weekly outdoor market in the town centre, or the weekly El Cisne flea market. Visit the Guitarras Cashimira guitar factory to pick up a handmade guitar, produced with traditional methods. The town centre also has the usual array of high street chains, including Spanish favourites Zara and Mango. Bypass the all-day breakfast cafes, and visit Tapas Alley – from Pl. de la Constitutio to Santo Domingo – for a selection of mouthwatering tapas restaurants. There’s no lack of nightlife in Benidorm, with a selection of bars and clubs to please all types of night owls. Dance off the calories at the Hippodrome, or visit Chaplin’s for kitschy cabaret acts. The Carousel, Last Stop and the Rose and Crown have karaoke facilities available for those who prefer to provide the entertainment themselves.
