Cheap flights to Heraklion arrive from all over Europe on charter airlines. Regularly scheduled flights to Heraklion also use the same airport. Although small in size, Nikos Kazantzakis International provides the same facilities, as do the larger airports.

A trip to 'Thalassokosmos' will allow the visitor to explore the ocean life surrounding Crete. A hike down the 'Samaria Gorge', although arduous, is well worth-while. Architecture buffs will enjoy exploring 'Koules', the Venetian Fort and also the city walls of the old city.
