Arriving at Antalya Airport

Cheap airfare to Antalya is easy to find. The airport hosts many modern facilities, with two international and one domestic terminal. This beautiful city on the Mediterranean is a tourist hotspot, and it processes up to 20 million passengers a year, so it's known to be crowded. If you'd like to pass over the cheap flight to Antalya you could opt for the CIP service with its own private terminal, for a fee of course.

The airport has duty free, food and beverages in all terminals, and also ATM's, money exchange and baby changing rooms. Information kiosks are located in both international and domestic terminals, although there is currently no Wi-Fi available. The 14 km journey to Antalya can be made by Havas bus shuttle, taxi or hire car.

Travelling Around Antalya

Antalya lies on the southwest coast of Turkey, and is a holiday destination for millions of tourists each year. Its temperate climate and crystal blue waters are the main attraction, but nightlife abounds, and to get around from one place to another you have a number of options. There is a regular bus service from the city to the outer areas, but minibuses and taxis are just as popular, with taxis being relatively inexpensive.

Walking around the city and environs is highly recommended, as there is much Byzantine and Roman history to discover along the way. This can be spread out, so short bus or taxi rides are a good way to get between historical points.

Antalya Attractions and Things to Do

Antalya was founded around 300 BC, and was an important part of the Byzantine and Roman Empires. Many monuments and ancient sites exist in and around the city's quarters, so walking around is definitely the way to spend a couple of sun-drenched days here. The Taurus Mountains circle the city, dropping away into the sea, and this beautiful landscape is the backdrop for all the rich and fascinating history of the surrounding areas.

The City Wall and Hadrian's Gate date back to the 2nd century AD, and are the most popular tourist destinations, along with Kaleici in the city, which is rich in archaeological artefacts. The Antalya Museum is one of the best archaeological museums in Europe, and the world, and is a must see.

Antalya Nightlife and Shopping

Antalya's shopping, particularly in Kaleici, is a myriad of colourful jewellery, carpets, kilims, leathergoods, and souvenirs, but there are malls just a little out of town if you prefer more conventional shopping. The busy centre of Antalya is also host to a vibrant night scene, with clubs, bars, cinemas and restaurants open until late.

Remember your camera, and avoid high summer for tourist congestion and humidity, and your Antalya flight will remain a treasured memory of a Mediterranean jewel.
