Arriving at Lima

Getting Around

Taxi cabs in Lima don't use metres. Instead, foreigners are advised to negotiate for the fare before boarding a taxi. It is a good idea to book a taxi though your hotel's front desk.

The Islas Palomino and the Ballestas Islands are popular destinations for tourists who want to enjoy the sun and to go surfing.

Shopping, Dining and Nightlife

Experience the gastronomic delight of Peruvian cuisine by trying Peru's national food, ceviche. Seafood is abundant in Lima. Nightlife in Lima is never complete without sampling pisco sour, Peru's national drink. Weekend nights are very busy in Lima. Locals flock to entertainment centres and movie theatres early in the evening, but by late night, the downtown pubs and bars will be packed.
