  • 1. Soller
    Soller, Majorca

Our absolute favorite day in Spain. We took the antique train ( beautiful pleasant ride)and then a short tram to Port de Soller. It is a GORGEOUS fishing town. The landscape and views are hard to put into words. One feels like they are stepping into a postcard. Just an amazing day. It is about an hour from Palma, and well worth the trip. The train station was very close. We loved Mallorca, in general, but this was our favorite day: very romantic!!

  • 2. Soller Railway (Tren de Soller)
    Ferrocarril de Soller, Soller, Majorca

This is the antique train that I described above.

  • 3. Montserrat

Another amazing day. It is about an hour or so from Barcelona, but well worth the trip! You can get there easily by taking the underground and the train. Once you get there, you can take a cable car up to the village in the mountains. Once there, the monastery is beautiful with the Black Madonna.. The landscape is breathtaking. You have views that are not describable as you walk among the trails. Then you can take the funicular up even higher- just an amazing beautiful adventure.

  • 4. Las Ramblas
    Las Ramblas, Barcelona

Just a great street. It became like our home base, while in Barcelona. It has great sidewalk cafes and street performers.

  • 5. Plaza de Santa Ana
    Plaza de Santa Ana, Madrid

This was our favorite area to find good restaurants to eat for dinner. There are nice outdoor cafes. It is very busy and pleasant.

  • 6. Plaza Mayor
    Plaza Mayor, Madrid

a nice square with outdoor cafes. It reminded me of St. Mark's Square in Venice.

  • 7. Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real)
    Royal Palace of Madrid, Madrid

You are able to go into the palace and see where Emperor Carlos really lived. It has luxurious rooms: our favorite was the Throne Room.

  • 8. Prado Museum (Museo del Prado)
    Prado National Museum, Madrid

good museum with a lot of Goya paintings.
