  • 1. Train stop to Venice: Ferrovia Venezia Santa Lucia or Venezia Mestre. Be careful! If you want in the Historic Center go to the Santa Lucia stop (the end of the line) or Venezia-Mestre (inland)

    -2 hours 30 min. in a wonderful train ride from Florence to Venice; FIRENZE (Florence)
    -4;30 min. from Rome (depending if it is a direct train)

    -There are different stops that have the same first name; learn a couple of words like "Thank you" and "Please". Everyone will be happy to help.
    -Venice has 2 major stations: the Venezia Mestre station on the Italian mainland, and the Venezia Santa Lucia station in the city's historic center
    -Trains dead-end in the Stazione Ferroviaría Santa Lucia
    -Go outside to the Grand Canal, where you'll find the vaporetto landing, water taxis, & the main pedestrian thoroughfare to the city center
    -Buy your pass; it is cheaper

  • 2. Transportation Airport//Venice; Many options so do your homework.

    -This is just an idea of the cost; as you arrive at the airport go left and you will see different options for your transfer.
    -Transfers are expensive so try to find a couple of people to share a water taxi. Also ask how long will it take to transfer you to your Hotel.
    -When you reserve your Hotel ask them what is the best way to get there from the Airport or Train Station; usually they know the short/cheaper way to get there.

    -Connected to the Grand Canal.
    -Easily accesible to the center of Venice; walking or by water
    -Tourism Office; 7 am to 9 pm
    -Baggage consignment:; 6 am to midnight; Euro 3.80 for the first 5 hours
    Euro 0.60 for each additional hour from the 6th-12th
    Euro 0.20 for each additional hour from 12th and on
    -Currency Exchange: 6:30 am to 11 pm

  • 4. Transportation Train Station/Venice Hotels

    -There are 2 Train Stations: Venezia Mestre station; mainland, and the Venezia Santa Lucia in the Historic Center
    -Check with your Hotel which station is better for your location
    -If you arrive at MESTRE; you have to cross the Ponte del la Libertá (Bridge) from the Venetian Lagoon to Central Venice.
    -Trains end in the Stazione Ferroviaria Santa Lucia
    -If you have wheeled luggage go towards the toilets near the Left end of the station and go through the passage. Outside turn right and follow the pavement down the canal.
