  • 14. One Half 1837 Polk Street @ Jackson & Washington
    http://www.facebook.com/pages/One-Half/94034934027?sk=info

My favorite find includes a black t-shirt of a Tim Burton character called Oyster Boy that I got for $5. Everything is new, not used. Perfect for gifts for mom and dad. Let's say you are supposed to bring something for a dinner party and you bought it at the store already prepared, there are serving dishes you can buy to put it on and bring it to the party--leave the dish for your host as a souvenir.
Add yourself to their mailing list for their half-off sales to watch for, so it is "half off" what is already marked "half off" and this is on all books, picture frames, photo albums, candles, cards, clocks, glasses, vases, silverwares, mugs, dishes, mirrors, rugs, table linens, kitcheware, handbags, pillows, baby stuff, toys, baskets, bath items.

  • 15. Cheese Plus corner of Polk and Pacific

  • 16. Miller's East Coast Deli 1725 Polk @ Washington/Clay
    http://millersdelisf.com/

50-seat dining room. Clean kitchen, high quality food and friendly staff. Everything is East Coast Style; real New York bagels served here. Excellent pastrami, babka and rugelach (when it is available). A recent menu change limits egg dishes too much. Get a potato latke instead of home fries with all the egg dishes. The 3-egg breakfasts offer a choice of either a bagel or toast. The 3-egg omelettes offer a bagel of choice. The breakfast menu shrinks with each change. They have the Belly App so that frequent visits can add up to a free deli platter for 10! It takes 75 visits to reach that milestone. Put your name on the list, but the turnover is quick. You can also share items like the the Miller's Great Big Fish Platter.
Delivery available through waiter.com or large orders for pick-up can be placed by calling ahead.

Ruth's Chris Steak House, San Francisco, California

Delicious and consistent. Desserts from the a la carte selection feed four people. Try a special cocktail or order one of your own classics. This is a place where two people can request a booth on opentable and get the table that they ask for, or even better, one by the window. I love the wait staff. Incredible, perfectly timed service. You don't have to search for them when you need them.

Look for mislabeled items in the prepared food section and you might be lucky enough to save a couple of bucks. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT because you can be overcharged for mispriced items where the shelf price hasn't been updated. They have to refund you if you show them the error and you are correct. Please use tongs and scoops in the self-serve areas and no sampling out of the bins. They also have secret shoppers for security reasons. • 47. Kyoto Sushi on 1233 Van Ness @ Sutter (415) 351-1234
    Kyoto Sushi, San Francisco, California

kyotosushi-sf.com They compete with Sudachi, but I like this place for the 99c Sapporo and that they give you salad, miso soup and edamame for free while you wait for your order to be prepared. Friendly waiters; TV over the sushi bar. Weekends are not very crowded. Bigger portions than what you get in Japantown. They have a late night menu, but call before you go in case they close early. Clean restaurant, friendly staff; will even give you water while you wait for your takeout order. Not a fancy place, but the food is very tasty. Don't like the beer posters hanging around and the interior is a bit dated, like a mall restaurant looks.

Shabu Shabu is available upon request and very popular on Sundays. The Thai Spicy heat is incredible so be prepared. Daily specials and a big screen TV. Perfect before or after a movie or before a concert at the Great American Music Hall just a few steps down the street. And it is open late.
