Fun and interesting things to do in Progreso, Yucatan when you're only in town for a few hours.

  • 1. Double-decker Bus Tour

A 20-30 minute tour on an open double-decker bus of the town of Progreso with a bi-lingual tour guide. It's fun and a great way to see the town. Tours start and end at the Casa de Cultura.

  • 2. Relax on the beach!

Just a few blocks north of the Casa de Cultura, where the shuttles drop you off from the ship. Many restaurants, such as Eladio's, St. Bonnet, and Flamigoes, offer beach-side service. You can buy toys for the kids, and treat yourself to a beach-side massage.

  • 3. Dzibilchaltun Ruins
    Dzibilchaltun Ruins, Merida

Tours are offered at the Casa de Cultura - much cheaper to buy them there than on the ship. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the ruins, and there is a small, interesting museum and a cenote to swim in.

  • 4. Ocean Fishing Trips

Fishing trips on a 30' El Dorado with an American captain. They can even arrange for your catch to be cooked at a local restaurant! Pick-up and drop off at the Casa de Cultura.
