Get through Illinois in 4 days! Start in St. Louis by visiting the Arch, watching a Cardnials Game or for kids, heading to the City Musuem. Stay at a hotel outside the main city, on the Illinois side because the fare are ofter cheaper there. Travel through springfield on day 2 and stay at a west side hotel and drive to downtown for the new Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Musuem, also drop by Lincoln's home, where you will get a tour of his home and often see people in peorid clothing, these people will often provide interactive games and tell you more about the social class of that time. Spend 2 more days in Chicago. Once again, being a big city you must stay at an outer city hotel. Joliet is convenient for the first night, then a few of the sub-burbs have a little more pricy ones closer to the city. For shopping, stop by Michgan Ave. head up to the Sears tower the same day, and if you are a Cubs fan, check out when the team plays before you get there. Navy Peir is also a must. There is an amusement park with interactive mazes and such inside the pier as well as dining ships that take cruises on the beautiful lake. If you have children you want to take, check before you book your dinner because some do not allow children. Chicago also has a Aquarium and Planetarium withen walking distance of the pier. Shedd Aquarium also has it's own Marine wildlife show.
