Driving through Yellowstone Park in the Winter

6 Sep 2006  Last winter we visited Big Sky and West Yellowstone and Mammoth. We wanted to drive in the Park and found that the only entrance to the Park that is open in the winter to vehicle traffic was the Mammoth entrance. We drove all the way over to Cooke City through the Northern part of the Park and loved it. We stayed at a vacation home on the Yellowstone River North of the Park called Yellowstone Lookout (it is close to Chico) for a few nights and stayed at Big Sky for 2 nights at the Holiday Inn Express and at West Yellowtone for 2 nights at the Kelly Inn. We loved it all!

We wanted to drive through the Park in the winter! Found that the place to go for that was the North entrance at Gardiner.
