A guide to all things movies in and around Westwood

  • Category: Best of
  • 1. Mann Village Theatre
    http://cinematreasures.org/theater/246

Best spot to catch a big action film. Large screen and incredible surround sound. Used quite often for Red Carpet movie premieres.

  • 2. Westwood Crest Theatre
    http://www.westwoodcrest.com/

Fun theatre with a red curtain that lowers and raises with the beginning of every screening. Oustanding painted details inside. Excellent screen and sound.

  • 3. Mann National Theatre
    http://cinematreasures.org/theater/799/

HUGE theatre with an equally HUGE screen. Not much to look at from the outside and nothing fany inside. But the large size and solid surround sound make this a great place for a loud action flick.

  • 4. Nuart Theatre
    http://cinematreasures.org/theater.php/1128/

Fun, historic theatre showing art house, re-releases of classics and midnight showings (usually of Rocky Horror Picture).

  • 5. NuWilshire Theatre
    http://cinematreasures.org/theater/1139

Trendy art house theatre showing the more obscure and indie.

  • 6. Cinefile Video
    http://www.cinefilevideo.com/

Video sales and rentals of the hard to find films you love. Huge catalog of rare releases and hard to find classics.

  • 7. Westwood Film Festival
    http://www.westwoodfilmfestival.com/

Annual film festival held in Westwood Village. Support the up and comers and their indie releases.

  • 8. L.A. Film Festival
    http://www.lafilmfest.com/

Recently moved back to Westwood. Larger scale and more recognizable names than the Westwood Film Festival. A must see if you're in the area that time of year (June/July).

  • 9. Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)
    http://www.lacma.org/programs/FilmPrograms.aspx

Special film showings and classics at the Museum.

  • 10. Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash
    http://jsbstash.stores.yahoo.net/

Comic books and movie memorabilia. Most movie products are from Kevin Smith's films. Kevin stops by in person now and then.
