markmberlin's City Tips

  • Don't expect Berlin to be full of pubs, it isn't. Beer gardens are great in the summer but in winter there is a real lack of drinking establishments in some areas
  • You can get good sausage anywhere, often the scruffier the place the better it is! Don't be a snob
  • Work out which banks allow you to take out money from ATMs for free. Some charge 5 euros. Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank are generally the best
  • If only taking a short journey on tram, bus or U-Bahn, get a cheaper kurzstrecke ticket. Even better, just walk or bike it. Berlin is not that big and is totally flat

It is like being in Havana. Really authentic Cuban bar/restaurant with amazing menu and even original Cuban beer. In a horrible touristy area but you wouldn't know it

The best square in Berlin. Can you believe it was completely destroyed in the war but has been rebuilt to look exactly like it was? Two identical churches tell a tale, one orginally was for French immigrant protestants, the other for German
