  • ZürichCARD: The ultimate ticket for any visitor as it covers both public transit and free or reduced entry to many major points of interest in Zürich.
  • Gratuity is not compulsory but in the case of good service, 10% of the bill or rounding-up will suffice.
  • In Switzerland, tap water has the same quality as bottled mineral water since good quality water is at the heart of the culture. Plus, it's cheaper and more environmentally friendly.
  • All shops are closed on Sundays except those inside Zürich Hauptbahnhof.
  • There are several free walking tours around Zürich that are definitely worth doing.
  • Besides cheese and chocolate, you must try Swiss milk!

For such a tiny landlocked country, Switzerland's history and culture are as rich as its economy. Follow the birth and growth of the nation and gain insight to Swiss identities through the museum's vast permanent and temporary exhibitions. Moreover, as the building itself was designed to unite collections, exhibitions and architecture, fans of bricks and mortar will also be amazed by this outstanding 19th-century construction.

You may well recognize this iconic Swiss site from popular Zurich postcards, and Grossmünster is just as majestic in reality. This 12th-century Romanesque-style cathedral bears both architectural and historical significance, having witnessed the Protestant Reformation led by Huldrych Zwingli in the early 16th century. Karlsturm (Karls Tower) — one of the twin towers — also offers some incredible views over the city and the lake.

As one of the four main churches in Zürich, Fraumünster has carried its architectural magnificence of an Evangelical-reformed church from the 13th century to the present day. With the addition of the world-renowned five-part cycle in the Romanesque chancel and the rosette in the southern transept, done respectively in 1970 and 1978 by Marc Chagall, this is a significant highlight of your visit in Zürich.

St. Peter Church was the first Protestant religious construction built after the Reformation that took place in the early 1500s. Not only does its tower help to define the scenic skyline of the Old Town of Zürich, the clock that was first installed at the end of the 13th century is also well-known for being the largest tower clock face in Europe.
