This a beautiful place, surrounded by a series of stunning small islands. If you are in Phuket just for a day and you'd like to explore the island's natural beauty, then a tour to Phang Nga Bay and its surrounding islands should be top of your list. Swim at Lana Island, before exploring the beautiful caves, villages, and other islands nearby. Highlights include the beautiful Scooby Doo Rock, which sits at the middle of a serene island and looks just like the cartoon dog; and the Ice Cream Caves — caves with a lot of calcium dripping from their ceilings, creating formations that look just like gelato!
This island is a famous attraction for all visitors coming to Phuket, and makes for a delightful stop-off during a tour of the area. Iconic for its appearance in the James Bond movie franchise (hence the name,) experience breathtaking views as you climb up the rock.
If you love authentic Thai cuisine, you must try Tawai Thai. As well as serving the freshest pad thai and tom kha gai soup in Phuket, the staff here is nice and courteous. The last time I went, I arrived just as the kitchen was closing, and the manager still ensured my order was taken and prepared with the utmost care. They even offer to drop you back to your hotel free of charge at the end of your meal!
For those who love amusement parks and dazzling performances, Phuket FantaSea is the perfect place. The cultural theme park is beautifully designed, with so much to explore and admire all in the one site. Here you can shop, enjoy carnival village games, indulge in a delicious Thai buffet, and finally enjoy the spectacular theater performance which includes elephants, tigers, exotic birds, dancers, and more.
This Hard Rock Cafe is beautifully located centrally in the Patong Beach area. It is a fusion of western and eastern foods and cultures — from its live band and performers to its innovative food and drinks menu. This two-story restaurant is one of the most happening places, and a must-visit for a meal, a snack, or a drink when in Phuket.
If you are in Phuket even just for a day, you must not miss the much talked about Thai massage. This is one of my favorite places to head to when I'm in the mood for this strong type of bodywork, and though it's a bit hard to find, the massages here are really worth it.
For all those thrill seekers who aren't scared of heights, this is a fun activity option, and a great way to explore more of Phuket's natural surroundings. Whether you're a beginner and want to opt for a shorter course, or more of an experienced daredevil, the English-speaking guides at Flying Hanuman ensure you'll be in safe hands at every step. The adrenaline rush is simply amazing and keeps you wanting more!
For a foodie like me, this is a delight, and one of my favorite spots in Phuket. The food here is absolutely delicious. You can try everything from authentic Thai delicacies to American-style fried chicken; barbecued meats to fresh seafood; plus, freshly made desserts, juices, and the famous fresh coconut ice cream. This place is a must if you love food!
This beautiful beach lies parallel to the bustling Bangla Road in the heart of Phuket. Although popular during the day, many tourists end up at Patong Beach Street after the sun goes down to enjoy the nightlife of the strip and its surrounding area. The neon lights are bright and bold, and so are the GoGo dancers who will try to lure you into various bars and clubs. A great place to have fun, drink, and just enjoy!
Bangla Road is one of the busiest and most happening places in Phuket. A street that awakens when the sun sets, Bangla Road is known for its blaring music — which is pumped out from every pub and bar along the strip — cheap beer, attractive touts, and good food. Simply walking down the street is an experience in itself.
For fans of Aussie food, beer, and party culture — this bar always happening, loud, and lots of fun! The crowd is great, the staff are polite, the food is good, and drinks are cheap. Plus, its centrally located, big enough to accommodated large groups, and the large screen TVs at the bar are perfect for enjoying sports games.
If it's clubbing you're looking for, this is a good option on Bangla Road. Look out for the sales people outside, who often give out free entry passes; and then, once you're in, you can enjoy a huge dance floor, alongside an extremely reasonable all-you-can-drink deal. And if you simply just love to dance, the music is great, making it an awesome place for a night full of fun.
