You’re going to love the time you spend in this warm-hearted Texas town. It boasts one of America’s best dining scenes and a commitment to the arts that rivals some of the greatest cultural destinations in the world. These two claims I do not make lightly, and they rank high among the reasons I enjoy being in Dallas.

Chris O's City Tips

  • Good food is abundant here. Most of the venues, districts, and centers listed offer their own great places to eat or are situated near excellent and plentiful food and drink options.
  • The sunny clime means that you should make sure to stay hydrated and have plenty of sunscreen with you on your days out.
  • Public transportation is better than you might expect, with excellent DART service to and from Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, as well as a good network of buses and trolleys.
  • This itinerary assumes you're using downtown Dallas as your base.

Nasher Sculpture Center is home to more than 300 sculptures, including works by modern talents such as Rodin, Calder, de Kooning, Matisse, Miro, and Serra. Both the airy interior and the verdant sculpture garden feature great art, and lots of folks also like to enjoy an alfresco bite at Nasher's terraced restaurant.

The market dates to the early 1900s, when vendors would sell their produce from horse-drawn wagons. Beyond the opportunity to buy from produce dealers, wholesalers, and local farmers, the market offers cooking classes, workshops, monthly yard sales, and festivals throughout the year.
